From Detroit, 27h to 31h one way flights that add up to over 7000$ close to 8k for 5 days anytime before may…. It might be nice but it's nowhere near that listed amount…

We have been there once, like 10 years ago. It is one of the best islands.
Exotic food, pristine beaches, and very peaceful.
This deal looks good.

1. Pay more and go during the "dry" season. We've been to the Maldives during the rainy season and yes, you're in paradise, and yes, it's still 5 star service and the food, but it's totally a different experience in the dry season...the crystal clear waters, the white sand beaches, etc. There is so much more to do in the nice weather, especially the water sports, which is jet skis, scuba, snorkeling, kayaks, etc. (Not all are included).

2. The taxes ARE Included in the price you pay to that company, Luxury Escapes. It's "added" to the price you originally see, but it basically means you won't pay any taxes/additional fees when you get to the resort.

3. The included plane ride from Male to the resort is worth roughly $400 per persons, so that's nice.

4. The flights from the US suck. Its a LONG ways. 14 or so from the East Coast to the mid-east, then another 5 or so the Maldives, then another 40 minutes to the resort. Now, add in layovers (expect about a 2 hour layover in Male and anywhere from 3 hours to 18 hours in the mid-east) and you're definitely looking at well over 24 to 30 hours of travel time..and this is from the east coast.

5. Bring plenty of bug spray no matter when you go!

I've been twice, although neither time was to this resort. If you have questions, please let me know.
did you take advantage of a deal like this and is it from the same company?

This was my wedding honeymoon in 2022 June, I stayed at Pullman with my now-wife. Loved the resort and the food, honestly everything was so great! Five days was the perfect length for bonding and relaxation. The "Luxury Resorts" agency may seem sus but it's definitely legit and it's one of the primary means for Pullman to get reservations in the first place. It was an unforgettable Maldives trip for us!

I've done this twice and highly recommend the aqua villa. It includes an underwater bedroom. We spent a lot of time there!

When is the rainy season?
Locals said June July. We just got back yesterday and it rained 4 days out of six and heavy rain two days. So it was basically same as rainy season. Weather is unpredictable these days.

Problem with rainy season is more the winds, it makes the seas rough so many excursions like dive trips or whale shark snorkeling get cancelled.

As awesome as it is I don't think Maldives is worth going from the US, too far. We went from Taiwan.

Yup. There are closer places that are just as good or better. The Maldives are nice but so damn far away.
What's as good as Maldives closer to the US?

We loved Curaçao and I'd rather go there from the US due to the short flight time but it's not as good as the Maldives.

Why can't you visit local restaurants? Who will stop you? The resort employees? LOL
Again, you can't just drive to another place. It's an island, and there is literally nothing man-made there aside from the resort. What's stopping you is the ocean.

$10k all in for a 5 day vacation... $10k can get you 2+ months of living like a king in SE Asia. Even Japan is dirt cheap compared to anything Maldives.
To me, Maldives is for people who love snorkeling or diving. It's world class in that regard. Few places in the world can you snorkel with whale sharks, Manta rays and dolphins on the same day. And unlike the Philippines they don't attract the whale sharks with food lol.

So it's a different experience vs going to SE Asia or Japan, can't say what it's worth to whom.

Hawaii
lololol no.

I liked Maui, but iif you think it at all compares, you're delusional. Hawaii is also insanely expensive considering what you're getting (expected, as it is the US, but that doesn't magically make it lighter on the wallet).

I agree, although I have to say customer service in the Philippines completely blew away Maldives.

Good questions. It's cloudy up top but underneath it's clear. We went swimming and snorkeling numerous times during the rain Smilie
In the rainy season there's often wind, so snorkeling especially in open ocean (like on a whale shark tour) can be choppy. It's also darker when it's raining.

But yeah we did a SCUBA dive in the rain, was great visibility , just darker than usual.

Haven't been to the Maldives yet, but recently went to St. Kitts and enjoyed. Fairly short flight too.
