Do you mind elaborating on the awesome points? Reviews tend to complain so I would love what you found was awesome.
In general, I have not been able to find an over-the-water villa/bungalow with my own private pool, on a private island and all-inclusive at the upgraded price point that I choose outside of Maldives. It is double the price or more, within 10 hours flight from LAX. Our ocean pool villa was pretty cool (fully stocked drinks and snacks twice daily), see those pictures in my last post. We stayed 6 nights total at Pullman. Cool

The $2777 beach villa + international flight price is a good deal. However, if you can swing the ocean villa price upgrade, then it's worth it after all that travel from the US. As I said in my last post, I'll never go back due to the distance. shake head

Here are some sharks I recorded right under our villa. The nursery shark was after an octopus. LINK : https://youtu.be/UUjm8smWnjY

I am not sure where you are finding the reviews that "tend to complain" about Pullman resort, but there are plenty of reviews in detail on Tripadvisors and a few specific vidoes on YouTube. They greeted us at the main dock like a 5-star resort. The check-in process was done inside my villa upon arriving around 11 AM after our island tour. The white powdered sand beach and waters are amazing, it's a clear glass view looking at the marine life in the lagoon (similar to our Tahiti trip). It took us about 30-45 min to walk around the island out skirts. Marine life (sharks, stingrays, eagle rays, turtles, octopus and tons of fish) can be spotted walking the beach or looking off the villa walkways. The vast lagoon comes to your knees during low tide to walk out about 1/4 mile into the lagoon/ocean water.

I choose the 30 min jet-ski as my free activity, guided snorkeling tour on the house reef as my free excursion, took out the free kayak and free paddle boards daily (except for one rainy day in Dec). Kept and road bikes daily the entire trip ($13 pp daily usd). Bikes will avoid having to wait for go-cart buggies (every 20 min) to get around the island or just get use to walking a lot.

There is much more, but I don't want to write a full on review. Plenty of others have provided positive reviews about the food (not a vegan fan), drinks, service, public pools, activities, excursions, spa, etc.

TIP on travel: Turkish Airlines does offer a free tour or free hotel stay depending on layover duration. Ours was 16 hours EEK! coming back so we qualified, US citizens require visa. Also, Istanbul airport does offer a hotel in the terminal called Yotel Airside (about $235 usd).

Why can't you visit local restaurants? Who will stop you? The resort employees? LOL
Uh…it's a very small ISLAND. Do your research…there are NO general public retail facilities of any type.

The picture alone can tell you that if you bothered to look.

I just wanted to say that this has been a very helpful thread overall. Thanks for those who shared their experiences of actually going to the Maldives! I think I'll just have to stick with the Caribbean for now, I just don't think I can handle that long flight.

Are these prices for two (couples) or per person?

Sorry misread the post. It said 2 guests.

There's more taxes? It says all taxes included.

I don't know why they claim all taxes included. If you go to the Luxury Escapes website, you'll see an example price of $2,777 for a beach villa, just like was noted at the top of this thread. Look at the price details and you will see that taxes are $722. Total given is $3,499.

1. Pay more and go during the "dry" season. We've been to the Maldives during the rainy season and yes, you're in paradise, and yes, it's still 5 star service and the food, but it's totally a different experience in the dry season...the crystal clear waters, the white sand beaches, etc. There is so much more to do in the nice weather, especially the water sports, which is jet skis, scuba, snorkeling, kayaks, etc. (Not all are included).

2. The taxes ARE Included in the price you pay to that company, Luxury Escapes. It's "added" to the price you originally see, but it basically means you won't pay any taxes/additional fees when you get to the resort.

3. The included plane ride from Male to the resort is worth roughly $400 per persons, so that's nice.

4. The flights from the US suck. Its a LONG ways. 14 or so from the East Coast to the mid-east, then another 5 or so the Maldives, then another 40 minutes to the resort. Now, add in layovers (expect about a 2 hour layover in Male and anywhere from 3 hours to 18 hours in the mid-east) and you're definitely looking at well over 24 to 30 hours of travel time..and this is from the east coast.

5. Bring plenty of bug spray no matter when you go!

I've been twice, although neither time was to this resort. If you have questions, please let me know.
Since this said I can travel anytime before 12/22/2025. Do I need to pay extra if I wanna go on "dry" season?

I'm tempted but the cancellation policy is a dealbreaker for me. Shows that I can only cancel between now and January 2 if I want a refund. Any cancellation after that would just be a resort credit that must be redeemed within 12 months. Not trying to imply it's sketchy or anything, but merely too high risk for me.
Buy trip insurance so in the event of any emergency you can get a refund

Been there, done that!!! Feel free to ask me questions.

I booked on 6/5/23 on the last front page deal and we just got back 2 weeks ago from Pullman Maldives Maamutta. I will not do this again, since it was so far and took me 4 days to adjust back to my time zone. BUT, IT WAS AWESOME AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING!

First the bad:
1. Drinks took a long time to get to me (water and soda is quick), anywhere from 5-30 minutes for cocktails. Except at the Hub Bar, always under 5 minutes.
2. Limited restaurants, granted it is a private resort island. The MÉLANGE buffet is breakfast, lunch, dinner with about 4 cook-to-order stations. Think of it as a world buffet, good food and variety. The two a la carte restaurants include SOUQ OVEN Italian lunch and dinner and PHAT CHAMELEON vegan only and only dinner. Don't let the reviews fool you, if your not vegan and don't think you will like it, go with your gut! We went straight to the buffet right after (yuck)
3. We had one full day of rain and it does suck. All the fun outside activities are closed down, so think twice before booking during rainy seasons.

The good:
Everything else was awesome, it was that exotic dream vacation that everyone has on their bucket list!

I am so glad I upgraded to the Ocean Pool Villa (double the price) vs the beach villa. The deal back in June 2023 was slightly better comparing December rates and the upgraded villa booked for 6 nights ($6335 vs $7673). On that booking date, Turkish Airlines was the best price at $2567 for 2 + $312 option for assigned seats. All flights had every seat filled except our IST to LAX coming back. YES, IT'S A BRUTAL FLIGHT. Not so bad going there, but really sucks getting back, plus adjusting to the time zone again.
When you upgrade, you pay the difference of the deal amount? Would you be paying for the full amount difference or deal amount difference? Or the difference of the current rate when you upgrade? For example right now it's $2777 vs $4206. The difference you'd pay is $1429? Or the difference of the current rate at the time you upgrade - let's say $3000 and $5000. You'd be paying $2000 extra?

I saw an option to book later for this package. Am I missing something? Would this offer be locked in? Probably pay extra for "dry" season?

Correct, here is your example with tax added during the low rainy season. I recommend making a Luxury Escape account so you can see your actual out of pocket. PLUS, you will need to add on the international airfare to your total out of pocket.

The domestic flight from MALE airport to the domestic airport is included.

Accommodation
US$4,206.00
Pullman Maldives Maamutaa
OCEAN POOL VILLA
5 nights (1 room • 2 guests)

Subtotal US$4,206.00
Taxes & fees US$1,093.00
Total US$5,299.00

Lmaoooo. Lmao. I can also say these flights are not easy. Even in first class. I did a 25 hour flight time to Tanzania. My longest flight yet Super glad I did the long lay over. My recommendation. Do the lay overs. Its a great and much needed break. Also skip first class and save the money for the trip itself. While the flight was long. I would 100% do it again to go to nice place. Either maldives or bali is my next destination.

Says you can cancel up to 45days before check in for credit. But they said that credit can be used on anything.. doesn't have to be used at that particular resort, eg can spread across multiple local trips if wanted.

We bought this deal last year, albeit it was a few hundred dollars more at the time. The flight sucked of course but we were able to sleep through a lot of it and catch up on movies. We're glad we did it. Would have regretted dying and not seeing it in person. Definitely do the ocean villa. We did 5days beach villa and 5days ocean.

I'm surprised they get people during rainy season. No one is going to go somewhere like this to get rained on.

When I was in elementary school there were multiple news articles saying that climate change would completely submerge the Maldives within 20 years. It's been well over 20 years. There is definitely not a single square foot of land left at this point. Enjoy sleeping underwater, suckers!
Sea level on Maldives is definitely rising. Probably will be remade into a floating city of sorts towards the end of the century. Don't worry about it though. We will all be dead.
