I used TurboTax for a few years before I switched.. the price difference was a huge reason.. I've now used HR block for the past 2-3 years. I'm good with the experience and will continue to use them. Turbotax software UI/experience is probably slightly better but not enough to charge that much more

Back in early 2000s, I used to get BOTH for FAR. I compared them both for years. Several years later, once we needed to pay for them (no longer FAR), I still shared with family where one person would buy Turbotax and the other H&R. Still kept on comparing. Always identical results.

When TurboTax added Spyware to their s/w, we stopped buying and have never looked back. We all now exclusively use H&R Block. It was just TaxCut before and then H&R bought them out.

The state eFile fee till last year was $19.99. Not sure what it is this year though.

I've always used TurboTax, but at a little more than half the price, I'm considering trying out H&R Block. Any input from those who have used both? Also, what is the State e-file fee from H&R Block?

You are welcome. As I stated, I have never used TaxHawk but friend has used for years. He also turned me on to TaxAct for trust return. Cheaper than TT for Business and TT for Business cannot handle 1099-OID and it is my understanding that TT for Business 2023 will not have capability to handle 1099-OID. Users complained to TT last year about this to no avail. They just reuse the same code year after year after year.

I should mention both companies lobby congress to make our tax filing harder so we have to use software to help file taxes.

Got my local Office Depot to price match this same deal a couple weeks ago. Nice purchase when turning in ink cartridges for recycling credit or to use us reward points from battery purchases.

FYI... for those who have Amazon Prime who has a bunch of no-rush shipping digital credit, you can use that credit towards the purchase of 2023 H&R Block Tax Software. In my case, I needed 2023 H&R Block Tax Software State so it was $30. However, I had $25 in no rush shipping credit so I only paid $5 out of pocket. Unfortunately, the no-rush credits expire and it's limited to app/music/video purchases...

I would think it would be good in case the tax document is not accepted by the internet server. Never happened to me but I think it is possible.

Personally, I file my taxes and taxes for my elderly parents and then share the license with my kids and sibling so they can file for free. Some married couples also file separately. A single person with no one to share with may just need one e-file.

Paid $32 for the Premium and State version from Amazon last year. So $35 is probably the new lowest, considering inflation. Good enough for me.
