Holiday decorations already down, you?

70,256 5,366 December 27, 2023 at 06:42 AM in Question
Yeah, I guess I put up Christmas decorations up too early this year and was just so tired of it all I took it all down last night after work,

The strings of lights that I draped over some bushes are unplugged for the season but still outside since it's all rainy here. When it's drier I'll bundle them off and store in the garage all balled up lol alongside the Halloween lights Stick Out Tongue

They will have to stay that way until spring when I can move some stuff out of the garage and reorganize.

Some people put their trees up on Christmas day and leave them up for the following month.
What about all of you? If you put up decorations are they still up and how long will you leave them up?

HOA's can be undone and they should be. When you buy your home you shouldn't have to keep paying for it once the mortgage is over.
There can be quite a lot of variance, mine is pretty laid-back, mostly monitoring the lake, making sure people don't cut down too many trees willy-nilly, maintaining the playgrounds etc, and is less than $60/mo. I know many other HOAs have rather higher fees and draconian busybodies on the board obsessed with grass height and killing joy (like MLV's, it seems).

I was driving around the neighborhood yesterday and noticed Christmas trees near recycling bins, so I guess, the first two weeks of the new year is the time. My decorations will stay until mid-January, at least.

I noticed many of the neighbors have stopped turning on/have taken down their lights. Still a few hold-outs, so I'm sticking with them for now.

I still have Micky and Minnie in our bedroom window box shelf...but not turning them on and they look hung over as there is the stabilizer cord holding them up by their waist lol.

my window mounted string lights can be set to any color you want. last weekend i changed them from "christmas [rainbow]" to "winter [blue and white]" and will be keeping them up for another few weeks. i usually take the wreath on my front door down when the battery operated lights die for the first time after christmas, which happened today, so i guess it's coming down this weekend.

i'm still digging my tree, however, so it will be up at least another week but probably longer laugh out loud

I'll have to remember that for next year!

As of this moment, they have been brought into the house from the outside window sill.

If you follow the Julian calendar then it's "Russian New Year" this weekend I believe. So there's your justification for leaving the decorations up another week. Thumbup

There's a house down the street with purple, yellow, and green Christmas lights around all of their windows. It's uh... it's interesting.
