So? I'm hiking a few feet from the subaru to the camp spot, or the backyard for when kids want to use it. The day i decide to hike into a remote mountain lake and do it more then once, is when i will consider the ultralight 2oz 4 season tent people like you use while scoffing at a backyard tent of 10lbs.

Ultralight camping is so 10s for all you naysayers. Back in the 80s a standard pack load was at least 70 pounds. Go retro and go big. Leather, steel, and canvas rules!

9 pounds for a 3 person tent is ok if you don't mind that it's a little heavy and splitting up the load between you. My much bigger concern honestly is the laughable "wind rating" of 25 mph. The last nylon tent I car camped in the mountains with got destroyed in a thunderstorm, with winds at least 60 mph. You really shouldn't plan on taking something flimsy like this into somewhere in the back country because it could be the last poor decision you make.

That said, for car camping etc. it would be fine. For anyone who hasn't bought tents before, be aware that the practical capacity of tents is less than the rating. This "3-person" tent will probably hold 2 adults reasonably comfortably, but don't expect much more than that.
In my experience, a "3 person tent" is usually perfect for solo camping. Even 2 people will be a bit cramped.

I am a bit late to the party, but their descriptions of what this includes is hilarious to me, like they translated it from English to another language, and then back again, using the literal translations...

1x bedroom - Tent?
1x waterproof flysheet - Rainfly?
2x main poles + 1 top pole - ok this one not bad
12x tent pegs - stakes?
4x guy ropes - guylines?

I understand this is 3 season. But I have a snow camp trip with my son coming up and was wondering if this could withstand cold / snow on the ground. Type of camp. Not necessarily being snowed on. My currently 3 season is great for summer and spring but lousy once ot gets kinda cold.
Sounds like you're missing an insulator layer on the ground, and warmer gear. Don't skimp on the sleeping bags for cold weather that's your main source of heat retention at night. If you are looking for a tent that will retain heat then you're unfortunately looking at a much higher price point.

Also just to confirm, you'll need a sleeping pad as this is what will actually insulate you between your sleeping bag and the ground. You can find decently priced sleeping pads with high R-Values (insulating rating).

Looks perfect for car camping under $50, two people for sure. You can spend more, but this is a good size, with an acceptable center height. The inner even looks to have relatively vertical walls for this price-point.

Spending more (about 50% as much lol) might get you into something more squarely in the niche of car camping, though. Think "cabin" style tents. When I car camp, I want to be able to stand up in my tent, or at least be close. It would be a little bit of a bigger footprint, but usually not much. That's the main creature comfort I can see worth spending more.

Not everybody backpacks, so heavy tents are fine for most. The blackout feature is tempting, but I just bought 3 more tents. I picked one up from Amazon for a couple day backpacking trip. Which one did you get? Can you post a link?

No, not everyone backpacks. Which is why I said "keep in mind if buying for a backpacker, not a viable backpacking tent".
