Cool. Go ahead and link the better deal you've found that's in the race, so to speak.

No offense intended. But I went back a year and found exactly zero Ryzen 7 5800X desktops posted for less than $1000. So this is literally the best price ever posted for this computer, by hundreds of dollars. To say it's not in the race is a bit off the mark, in my opinion. It's not the latest and greatest, but it's also not 2 grand.

Is it an overkill for home office PC? My current machine has main components from 2015 and is unable to upgrade to win 11. It still runs win 10 perfectly unless there are two accounts logged in, which causes the 12G memory to overload. Instead of upgrading the memory from 12G to 16G, I think I'd better off with a newer machine. The requirement is really just win 11, QHD, wireless, 16G+ memory and don't have to upgrade for the next N years.

I have an Xbox and thus no need to game on PC. I actually rarely do anything other than internet. Can't believe it costs so much resources to run a windows these days
You can get a modern spec high performance office duty desktop for less than half of what you'll spend on this one. The main differences will be the lack of gaming level graphics processing, which apparently you don't need, and fancy RGB light shows. If you want a couple of suggestions, respond and I'll post some links. There are some excellent deals on Ryzen 5 5600G desktops out there, which is a great mix of price and performance.

You're not going to get a definitive answer here, as there's always a war between people who live on reviews and those who actually use hardware. Also, keep in mind that there's no such thing as unbiased reviews anymore.

If one fits your needs better than the other, that's all you need to worry about.
Yeah, that's fair. I've read through so many posts from the last 6 months, reviews of the needs for a video card for my needs, PSU requirements etc. I'm sure I'll be very happy with what I have!

What would be good ram to upgrade to 32gb for this?
Your best bet is to match exactly the brand and part number that's already in it, for guaranteed best performance with no conflicts. Usually pretty cheap on eBay, but requires that you have the desktop on hand first to see what's in it. People mix RAM all the time with good results, but matched sets are my preference. That applies to replacement larger capacity sticks as well if possible, but isn't required. If replacing all RAM during an upgrade, I try to go with the fastest that the CPU/motherboard will support.

Got a higher up MSI Refurb from the recent Woot sale. So far, so good.
Do you mean you ordered this machine and they sent you something better? If so what did you receive?

I have a very similar system with a 5600x instead of the 5800x. You'll be good for 120+ fps at medium-high settings (1440p) with most current games.

I posted this (and actually bought it) the other day. The video card seems a lot better based on user benchmarks, but user reviews say the AMD one is better. The Ryzen appears faster. Both systems seem find for 1440p games. I mostly wanted 12GB for AI stuff so it suited my needs for the price. Maybe its a wash, but it's hard for me (with my fairly limited knowledge) to know if this system posted is much better, especially given they are exactly the same price.

AFAIK Stable Diffusion mostly works much better on Nvidia cards, although there is an AMD fork of it now.

This one says it comes with a generic keyboard and mouse. Did you get a RGB MSI gaming keyboard and mouse? Or was it some basic keyboard? Wondering because the website says Codex R comes with pro gaming mechanical keyboard with switches and 5000 DPI mouse.

Graphics-wise, this is the RTX 4060 Ti level performance. CPU-wise, it's close to i5-13400F. Funny that your other deal is getting more attention. I would've sprung the extra $100 to get this: The better CPU and the bigger SSD seem to be worth it.
Ty for posting this comparison, rtx and intel is all I know…

It arrives today. I'm only assuming generic as that's what it says.

I don't really need the fancy msi ones anyway, but would be a bonus if it comes with it.

If you take tax into consideration, it seems acer recertified could have a better deal.
https://acerrecertified.com/acer-...-640-ur12/

Woot you have to pay tax. Acer there is no tax (in GA at least) and you can get 5% discount.
For the same money you can get an i7-12700F and RTX 3070

It says 1 TB SATA HD only but the same SKU is listed as 1 TB SSD + 1 TB SATA HD.
https://www.acer.com/us-en/predat....E2XAA.004

Either the specs are wrong which makes it a better deal or they took the SSD out and it's not as good.

I got this last year from bestbuy for ~1k during black friday. I've been happy with it, added ram and a second nvme drive no problem.

The AIO cooler on the CPU failed about 8 months in, MSI said it was a common issue and offered to send me a replacement but I upgraded since the stock AIO was weak even when working correctly (single 120mm rad and fan). No problems fitting a 360mm aio on top.

Hang on; it gets better. Acer Recertified via Ebay has the same machine for $827.99 because they're offering 8% off right now.

It's a $300 computer with a $500 video card. It's not an awful deal, but someone wanting a great video card isn't going to go for this, and someone not needing a gaming video card isn't going to spend this much (a mini with the 5800x will do fine).
