This is not that bad at all. Not too long ago 7390's which came out in 2018 were posted here on SD for around $150-180 so 5310's (2020) at this price is good.

Plus Full HD resolution. RAM is upgradable up to 64GB with 2 slots.

Your computer's memory capability:
Slots:
2 (2 banks of 1)
Maximum memory:
64GB
Standard memory:
8GB or 16GB removable

This pricing is actually slightly better than the 2-day sale from after Christmas (by about $15 in the case of the touch screen model). Consider that $15 gets you a RAM upgrade and the touch screen I'd consider that the go-to value option.

I'll report back in as to whether my 5310 arriving tomorrow is sourced from FedEx, as was the case with my recently purchased 7212 and much earlier Dell Refurbished purchases.

This should be an easy option for anyone shopping for the kid/grandma/productivity Windows PC and willing to jump through the hoops for Dell Refurbished (basically intensive testing upon arrival).

Good luck!
Jon

There's another coupon for 40% off any laptop (NEWYEAR2024). I'm a huge proponent of Dell Refurbished. Have never gotten anything but brand new looking laptops from them. Always order grade B, and imo they're always grade A. These are basically laptops that were corporate leases and are coming up on their 4 year refresh cycles.

I've bought a 5300 2-in-1, 7390 2-in-1 and a 5490. All have been fantastic for around $150. Amazing for school/office/youtube/flying on a plane. I do play some old school or classic games on these, but wouldn't recommend the integrated graphics for anything newer. They do have a few models with Nvidia GeForce MX230, but honestly doubt that'll get you very far in gaming either. All in all though, highly recommend these products for dirt cheap.

However, don't feel overly obligated to purchase in this moment either. Dell Refurbished is constantly having 40-50% off sales on everything. If you can't buy now, make no mistake another sale will come and they will prob have even better stuff by that point.

I've seen (and don't dispute) some buyers who've received units from smaller, clearly less capable lessors via Dell Refurbished (reminder that Dell Refurbished is essentially drop shipping units from corporate IT departments). I've generally been blessed with near-perfect FedEx units (which in at least one case looked as if it sat in a box in reserve its entire life). But some local school district or small city returning units still security locked in recovery mode is not unheard of, in addition to a few units which have some evidence of a full life having been lived (so aged batteries, or a finicky screen or mouse button).

This is a key point as to why I recommend buyers test out their unit and gripe at Dell Refurbished with the slightest issue. Except for a few edge case platforms (like the Rugged models, which become available less often), you can always wait for a "good" unit to become available again should your first purchase disappoint. For everyone's reference, here's an older thread that does a good job of documenting a checklist for your Dell Refurbished laptop.

Good luck!

Both the 5310 and 7390 models I received from my most recent order were FedEx refurbished.

Good luck!

seems no rhyme or reason to condition A and B. i usually get the condition A for laptops and no problems yet, only minor.

My dell desktop refurb was condition B and so far very good; was a little nervous ordering however, but all they had was B. usually a desktop just sits in a corner, so less mobility damage. however some people and things...........meh.

some say Laptops in condition B are a throw of the dice, probably better off with Condition A for peace of mind.

Can these be upgraded to Win 11? Also are they all sold out? I'm seeing 7390s which are I am assuming way older 2018 models.

Any of these under $200 refurbs that can do USB-C charging, backlit keys, 16GB dual channel ram and Win 11? Touchscreen isn't a killer but an obvious plus.

EDIT: By Win 11 I mean can it be upgraded to Win 11 hardware wise? I already have a Huawei laptop ewith a Ryzen processor that has Win 10 and won't allow upgrade to Win 11 even though it keeps trying to despite telling me it doesn't meet the requirements.

Do they ever blow out refurb usb c dock / hubs? I need a good cheap one that I can hook up to a laptop I'm using for Plex and a few other things tied to my synology.

Yeah I already bought it, not wanting to miss out on the 40% off. Wasn't sure if the 8th gen i5 was too old to upgrade to W11. The Ryzen 5 in my Huawei which is 2 years newer than my Acer Swift 3 (with 8th gen i5) canno't be upgraded to W11. Thanks for the heads up though for others on the fence.

Miss out on the 40% coupon? They're very common at Dell R. There have been 50% coupons much of December, sometimes 50% off everything. I'll bet that the only time we SD-ers buy from Dell R is when there are 40% & 50% off coupons (except for clearance).

So 40% off is average at Dell R. It's still a good price, although 8th gen is a very dated laptop now. They must be some very lengthy leases if 7th and 8th gen processors are still showing up at Dell R. Either that or Dell R has a large warehouse full of them, but they're only able to refurbish a small number of any Dell machine each week with Allstate's small staff.

Maybe they've got 5 techs refurbishing dozens of different machine types each week. They tend to go through batches with a few different models, then suddenly there are a few specific models with large 30+ inventories that they want to blow out the door on a coupon. I suppose it's faster to work with one model at a time for mass-refurbishing.

So maybe Dell R is the bottleneck in the slow refurbishments of their large warehouse inventory that's filled with old off-lease machines gathering dust.

With Intel 8th Gen i5, you can upgrade to window 11.

I did the window 11 upgrade for my XPS 13 which has i5 Gen 8 CPU.

For ryzen, I think you need zen 2 or higher for w11 upgrade
