I haven't played iceborne but the the OG game was great. If you like hunting monsters for materials to craft sick loot then you will enjoy this game. The combat is pretty skill based but gear does help alot.
It's kind of like dark souls movement/attacks but it's more forgiving (at least until you beat it).
Overall great game.

If you like hunting large monsters to take their parts and craft armor so you can hunter the next monster and the next and the next all while mastering one or more of 10+ weapon styles that actually can get complicated combos

It's a grind number go up type game

How is the community? Price is nice if people actually play it.

People play this more than the newer entry (Monster Hunter Rise). You can find people who help newbies every so often in lobbies, unfortunately i have heard that there has been a recent influx of cheaters who ruin the game/quests by one-shotting the monster. I don't think this will be most people's experiences though, i've heard it's more rare to run into, but worth noting.
You can rerun missions, so ultimately, the cheater would only ruin that one quest run for you if they happen to appear in your team randomly.

One of the most popular games of all time with a daily peak player count of over 129k, currently 79k players. This game has been around the top 10 or near the top 10 for the last 5 years.

Compare this to the newer MH Rise with a peak of 27.5k and current player count of 16.8k.

If you remove the Free 2 Play games on the steam charts it would be rank 6.

If you remove the newest top selling and played games it would be top 3.

#1 game over 5 years old has been GTA5, #2 is Wallpaper Engine, and #3 is Monster Hunter. (if you exclude F2P and new games)

We might see a player count drop and the gradual decrease over time by the next expansion, but that would be in 2025 with Monster Hunter Wilds. I personally like Monster Hunter World and it has been my #1 game for a while. I also have MH Rise, but I feel like that game babies players too much by making a lot of stuff easier with the wire bug and other changes.

This is a great deal. I wish I didn't own the base game already.

Ah crap… just started watching Asmongold stream this game and it looks amazing. Then saw it on another site for under $8, now I get an email alert for this slickdeal with the dlc attached for $16.

Do I really want to try and jump into monster hunter again? They are difficult games with lots of grinding and time commitment.

And I never enjoyed the "go try and find the enemy on the giant map" gameplay, especially when the enemy would run away once you've weakened it to 50% or so, then you have to spend 10 minute trying to find it. Unless I missed something in the older MH games, there were no map indicators.

In the older monster hunter games paintballs were how you tracked the monster between loading zones. Craft a few before a hunt and stick it to the monster and you'd get an icon on the map.

I feel like that same sentiment about mhr was said about mhw by the hardcore mh players. Wilds will likely add more traversing options. Going from mh4 to mhw was a bigger difference. And made it more mainstream. on that note....buying this so I can replay it off the PSN ecosystem.

And yet still can't get the dlc by itself for less than 12 (on lesser known sites)

How come monster hunter world is back on the radar? Is this an actual re-vamp with new content? Iceborne released 5 years ago...

Or just marketed hype between capcom and influencers to bring the game back?
