Almost jumped, but then I realized how much time it would take to remove each battery from the package and hand load into this thing. If you buy batteries in bulk like any good SD'er should, they come wrapped in a stackable cardboard box.

i hate this thing.

whether it's:
-the poorly designed latches that fall off when you brush against them
-the total piece of junk battery tester that's so frustrating it makes "throwing away everything questionable" sound like a good idea
-the awkward inflexible organization selected by someone else of what batteries you want (4,000 aa's but not enough space for a bulk pack of c or d size)
-hardly any space for goofy sized batteries (decorations and kids toys take a lot of button lr44's and cr2032's but those are in a bag next to this thing)
-not even enough space for a small screwdriver to change batteries with

regardless... it was a gift from the in-laws so i'm stuck with this piece of crap for a while until i can go back to my much preferred and more flexible "clear shoebox sized box with ziploc bags for each different size" system

I have this from Costco and pretty happy about it. I have a wide assortment of batteries like C for carbon monoxide alarm and D for my smart front door lock.

My thoughts exactly. Who has Cs or Ds? And this is a TON of batteries to have on hand. Maybe if it was 1/2 or 1/4 the capacity. I have an extra set of rechargeable AA and AAA waiting to be used. And some button batteries. Everything else is in use. Why in the world would you need 70+ spare AA or AAA batteries?!

Exactly my thought. Kids toys eat batteries of all sizes. Still, I would prefer to use rechargeables instead of a no-name brand battery that will spill acid.

Good point. They need to make one of these that charges all the batteries.

As a proud owner of a dad bod, I've been gifted with one of these the past few years. I'm not sure what the appeal of them are, TBH.

Both terminals of the same battery have to form a circuit for that to happen. It's really only a risk with batteries that have both the positive and negative on the same side like 9V square batteries. There is no real risk with AA or AAA unless you store a bunch of metal junk next to the batteries as well.

Picked this up from Costco last week for the same price. I had another battery organizer with foam mold with cut outs for batteries.

This rigid plastic design is much easier to deal with but I do miss a zippered pocket to hold packs of button batteries and other smaller kinds. Overall, happy with it and loading it up was kind of fun.

It holds a lot but not an insane amount.
