I did some research for anyone non technical wondering the same question: in a simple sense single bevel essentially lets you cut angles up to 90. Double bevel lets you cut up to 165. Single bevel can do the exact same thing as a double, just takes longer because you have to rotate what you are cutting for certain angles.

Also, sliding miter saws let you cut thicker pieces of wood (because you can move it in and out) and might have longer durability.
Just keep in mind that single bevel does make cutting crown moldings less enjoyable, should be good enough for 2x4 and lumber. Anything wider than 8" I think is beyond reach as well unless flipping over.
Yes, it CAN do the exact same thing. If you are doing trim and don't know what you are doing, I already spend too much time trying to remember if I am cutting an inside or outside corner. And I screw it up 1 out of 10 times still. it's not simple like cutting a 90 degree. With a single bevel, not only do you need to remember what direction to cut, you know need to figure out if the trim needs to be flipped too.

I get this sounds like a non issue and it probably isn't for people that do it all the time. I would be livid if I didn't have a double bevel saw to save $50 bucks.

The sliding is not really a need for me or for trim. It only is needed if you are cutting things bigger than 8" which I have yet to do.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Found some local stuff with used DWS780 and stand for $300, but what worries me is all the date codes I seen were in 2016-2018. I'm still holding off since it looks like they have plenty in stock.

I don't see the point of using this stand, it doesn't even have support extensions. Might as well just grab a couple 2x4s and make one for a fraction of the price.

The package with extension/roller stand is $350 (bought this one myself) https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL.../323971865

Yeah but I suggest the blade snapper things, they're awesome because you don't have to go outside. Just keep the snapper at the end of your run
With you on that. Just as easy, not nearly as messy, cheap purchase price. Only thing it doesn't do is small notches and such but a multitool is what I use for those.

$280 for the bundle with the "work" stand vs $350 for the bundle with the "compact miter saw" stand. The adjustable length with stops on the miter stand is worth the extra money.

I am a very novice beginner DIY enthusiast and have used circular saw of RYOBI in the past to cut wood sheet. Purchased a circular saw last month (not opened yet). Can you guys help me to decide if I should return that and take this miter saw ? Thanks.
Are you cutting plywood sheets? You will need to use your circular saw or A table saw. miter saw is good for cutting long boards, beams, trim, etc.

What happens if I return one of the items, but not both? Do I get a refund for the full price of the item? I need the stand, but not the saw.

This is a pretty good deal, but if you are going to do much cutting, a double bevel is worth it. this saw stand can be semi-permanently stored more compactly than one with wheels, but will be awkward to store or move without removing the saw. Many of the stands with wheels will collapse to roll under a workbench or lean against a wall and are so conveniently moved out of the garage. I wouldn't buy one without wheels unless I was using less than once a year. Also, dewalt makes some of their saws with an LED behind the blade that allows for quick and extremely accurate cuts by casting a shadow where the blade will hit. I would never again buy a miter saw without that feature. It saves so much time and never requires adjustment like a laser does.

Do you have a HD item or model number for this? Link is showing nothing for me and I'm interested in possibly getting this one

unless your framing a roof, a DIYer does not need a double bevel

you can easily build decks and additions and fine trim work with this without an issue... unless you'll cut 2x a week, you'll never have specific uses for a double bevel, it's just fancy imo, and easier for harder materials to cut. you can easily install a $5 clip on light instead of spend 50 more... and thus disconnects very quickly. unless you are scrawny and can't lift over 50lbs, you should obtain for an easier or smaller model...or hire someone else

Does that stand have wheels? The pictures just look like they're normal nub ends!
