It's not an issue. You just lift up each panel on one end after it is fixed to the wall and run the wire under each panel. Each side of the hex has a tab that makes contact with the wall to keep it flat and even on the wall. Just lift it up and tuck the wire under the tab and you can make it come out wherever you want on your design. But yes, technically the power does have to be on either end of your design. You gotta think McFly Think!….These are absolutely awesome!

Hmm.. !! You can chose to arrange in multiple patterns.
Like an A without the line in the middle? Or a very squashed C? Or the greater than/less than symbols? How about a pipe? Pipes -> | <- are kind of my favorite next to tilde...but don't think you can make a proper tilde with this. It would flow funny and just look like a triangle wave.
