The deal is good on this though. I paid a little more around BF sale time.
It upset me so much I haven't really touched the thing in over a year.

I've only used it on a couple trips, but haven't taken too much time to learn the editing. I'll get into it, eventually.. but I do think for average or basic video editors.
It's hard to do with a 1 year old who wants to grab the camera every time I use it & I'm scared he will crack the sensitive 360 lens lol.
They do sell protective plastic to cover the glass but your image will slightly get worse with them on (you'll notice this from lights or from direct sun). There's even a setting on the cam to compensate the stitching effect for the plastic lens covers. Despite the lowered image quality, the plastic insurance of a scratch-free glass is worth it in my opinion. The only time when one should ever use this camera with bare glass is indoors and very well clamped to a fixture.
It's a novel camera but I don't like having to baby this thing around all the time especially when my focus is on a fun vacation. Regular GoPros are excellent in that regard.
Also owner of 360-deg Xiaomi, Ricoh Theta, Samsung Gear VR.
I have the first generation and mainly used it for bullet time and still shots. I did only a couple of 360 videos for riding around my oneWheel.
Thx

Not saying not to buy it, especially if you're only going to view the footage on a cell-phone screen, just get it from a retailer that allows returns if you don't have prior experience with it - do not buy from Insta360 directly. I've gotten some sweet angles while snowboarding with mine, but if I had to do it again, I would wait for the next gen (or two) beyond the X3.

For Costco to carry these, this niche market has gotten a great start.
For super premium needs, the Insta360 One RS is $800 and has dual 1" sensors. These camera manufacturers can do it but (as we've been all saying here) it's a niche product.
For now, smartphone users with gimbals are still ahead on this competition. They're the A-Roll people. This 360 cam will remain a super good B-Roll format because you'll 100% get it in frame.

the tempered glass does not fog up. Do a google search and u can see where to get it.
I mainly bought my gopro for quick <1 minute fish videos and to mount something on my corvette for racing around. Figuring out the correct mount w/ audio setup made me lose interest quickly lol.

Yeah there's a learning curve to edit but if you keep it simple it's not much harder than a single FOV cam.
I got the accidental warranty so I don't have to worry about the lenses. The cage plus the lens covers ends up more expensive than the warranty.
