Does anyone have any experience with this lens? Curious about the AF speed. Is the quality worth the weight?
I use this as my "I'm only taking 1 lens with me inside" lens. I'm not anywhere near a professional just someone who wanted something "better" than a smart phone. I think the only thing that'll "replace" this 35-150 would be when I get the 50-400. My current "trifecta" is the 17-28, this 35-150, and the 150-500. I have way too much gear for as much of a novice as I am lol

I preordered the lens in January 2022 and didn't receive my copy until late July (and I paid MSRP!). The image quality is fantastic, and the autofocus is as good as my a7R2 can keep up with.
The two major practical downsides are that it needs large filters and the weight. I went with the Neewer magnetic filter system for a trip last March and was quite satisfied with the value. The weight is, unfortunately, a fact of life for a fast lens with wide aperture, and I found while hiking that I can't carry my camera in my usual "around the neck, in front" position without giving my shoulders trouble. The lack of a collar mount is annoying.
All said, though, this lens has made most of the rest of my kit functionally obsolete. I hiked Skye with just this one, the 17–28, and some Lensbaby Composer kit, and only a couple of times did I miss having a deeper telephoto. The simple avoidance of lens changes is compelling.

How do you carry it while hiking? I am really interested in this lens but worried about it's size.
Either in a backpack or on my neck but supporting it with my hand(s). I'm looking for a harness but haven't yet found one that looks like it's for me.
I have an old version of Cotton Carrier Camera Vest with Side Holster (CO124RTLDGRN). Worked pretty well when mounted on the chest vest. Their current version seems to be pretty similar to mine. https://www.cottoncarrier.com/pag...ra-harness

I've seen that one, but it looks to me like it attaches via the camera's tripod mount, and I keep an L-bracket permanently attached. Hmm, now I wonder if there are any harnesses that clamp to Arca-Swiss.

Mine came with an Arca-Swiss adaptor in the box. The way how they designed their mount piece to go onto the bottom of the camera seems to me can work on top of the other type of mount already installed there. Might worth checking out some review or video on that to see if it will work with your current setup.
For Samyang one, it has tendency of the lens to creep downwards under the weight of the glass. Tamron one has no such problem. And as some people mentioned, Tamron one autofocus may be just a bit better.
And if you have A7RIV or 60+ megapixel sensor and you want very good sharpness from center to corners at all focal range and all aperture, then Tamron 35-150mm is the one to go.
Here's the testing for Samyang and Tamron. Samyang lens Corners sharpness at certain aperture are just Average. While Tamron one are all Very Good.
So Alpha Blog rank Samyang lens as only "Very good" lens that may not produce the best sharpness for A7RIV/A7CR with 100% crop (softness in the corners for certain aperture). While it rank Tamron 35-150mm as "Excellent" that works well with 60+ megapixel sensor like A7RIV/A7CR.
