Brother printers are solid workhorse type printers. I have one 2270DW since last 6-7 years and it's still going strong. I got it for 50 bucks but it was pre COVID slickdeal.

I deploy these printers left and right for clients. They're cheap and reliable print solutions, and the toner is very reasonable. Brother also has a basic driver set so you don't need to install the full suite with their "BUY OUR STUFF" nags in it.

Highly recommended!

Exactly. Not a fair comparison. I use Epson Inkjet printers for color prints to save money on ink. I use a Samsung laser printer for black and white (which is similar to this model because Brother bought out the Samsung line of printers). Happy with both and the laser toner cartridges last so much longer than inkjet cartridges.

that might work to a point, but eventually it wont work at all.

Picked up this printer, wanted to confirm I've been able to get it printing from multiple devices while on a 2.4GHz wifi connection.

* Laptop running Fedora Workstation with Gnome
* Desktop running NixOS and Gnome
* MacBook M2
* Android Mobile

Prints duplex perfectly, was very easy to set up using only the printer's physical buttons. Kind of a pain to enter in the SSID passphrase, but I didn't need any special apps or programs.

Updated the firmware using the Brother MacOS app.

Overall I'm happy with it as a workhorse laser printer. Duplex and monochrome, wireless, works OOTB with Linux

Brother is a good company and genuine toner is not that expensive. I would spent a few more and get genuine toner. That's what I do with mine.
