It looks like the US "Reservation Gift" cannot be used towards the phone either: "The Gift cannot be applied to the pre-ordered device(s) and must be used at the time of pre-order purchase towards purchasing additional eligible products on Samsung.com, or in the Shop Samsung App."

Exactly. Having a choice is better. Still have not had anyone explain what the customer GAINED by removing the expansion slot. Prices have done nothing but go up since it's removal.

getting rid of the SD card was a money grab on the high end phones....storage is cheap.....they figure if you can afford their high end phone you will pay up for more storage.....they include and brag about the A54 having SD card storage

Yes, it is a premium phone storage tax.

What do you think is the percentage of people that use more than the base 128GB storage option? I'm by no means a power user when it comes to utilizing storage but I have a ton of apps and games and still only have to offload my pictures/videos every month or two. I'm guessing at least 90% of people use less than I do and 99% would never even purchase a microsd card.

I would personally love to have the option of a microSD card, but i can understand why Samsung would leave off that feature.

I think you are dead wrong....they took the SD card out of the S6....people complained and they brought it back on the S7....they finally decided to follow Apple's lead on their high end S series phones and go for the money grab....I have seem NUMEROUS complaints about them removing it but they are sticking to their guns....they could have easily included it on the S series but they ditched it.....my S23 does not have it....My A54 does.....and they charge either 50 or 60 dollars more to go from 128gb to 256gb.....total money grab.....SD cards make moving storage from one phone to another effortless...

I spoke to a local att corporate store and they said I can do whatever I want with the phone, as long as I keep paying I will keep getting bill credits
Said it doesn't change if I decide to light the phone on fire or it gets stolen, I won't be penalized. He did say if I tried to take advantage of an additional promotion though I would have to pay it off and lose the credits.

Hope trade-in values are much better than last year's S23 during launch...

again my guess is you're in the 1% that would actually use the microsd card slot. Not saying it's not a money grab, my point is just that most people won't even use it and those of us that care are in the tiny minority.
if it was a tiny minority they never would have given in after the S6 and brought it back on the S7....the last phone to get SD storage was the S20....they decided after that there was too much profit in selling storage to put it back in....With 4K and 8K video storage gets eaten up fast...the SD card was great for when you switched phones and wanted everything back on your new phone....no more unless you go with something like the A54

I don't know for sure, but my guess is because they don't want to redesign some of these crappy midrange phones. They probably figure it's cheaper to include the microsd reader into the phone than to redesign the board inside the phone. Also gives an extra spec boost for these low/midrange phones.

Another possibility is they're designed with 2nd/3rd world countries in mind where they need more local storage since their cell infrastructure is garbage.
I bought an A54. $324 at Amazon BF sale unlocked.

Supposedly has the same basic cameras as the S23 and the screen and battery life are fantastic. The big miss is no wireless charging

That 1% of users that care are very loud and involved when it comes to review sites and technology forums.
if only 1% of the users need more than 128gb of storage then why does the S23+ start at 256gb?....why not offer a 128gb version of the S23+ and drop the price some for the 99%??
