If you scan multiple documents on a regular basis this will be a chore.

They can use generic cartridges no problem. I own the ADF version of this and have no problem throwing any cheap cartridge in and it never complains.

Walmart has a Brother laser all on one with an adf on sale for $149.

I would recommend the Brother. Good chance you'll get 10 years out of it

The toner that comes in this is not the same you buy in a retail box. As with many other laser printers, they only come with starter cartridges, which probably only good for 700 pages or less. The ones you buy in the retail box can do over 1500 to 3000.

It's ridonk hard to research this feature if you happen to also want double sided (duplex) ADF scanning. Bullet point feature lists on the websites of the manufacturer will seldom delineate this specific feature.

Even the forum moderators on HPs own website, for example, cannot conclude definitively if their own models have it or not.

In brother land, the 2750 does both for black and white, and the 3770 does both for color.

Like Techngro on this posting, Canon has served me well. My only Brother stopped feeding the documents after about 3 years or so, I believe (and I tried the remedies shown on YouTube, to no avail). Canon is my go-to when & if.

I have an older D530 version of this coming up on its 10th year of shipping label printing and occasional scanning. I've replaced the toner with generic a couple of times and have had zero issues.
