I'm late to the game on seeing this. I just opened a new account on Friday with the $300 offer. I just called the banker who opened my account on Friday, and she cancelled the $300 offer and applied the $400. No problem to change the offer.
Negative, tried multiple browsers and various answers to the questions, but the app always bonked out. Tried calling but they won't do apps over the phone. The rep said it probably has something to do with me having both personal and business chase credit cards that are tired to the same web login, seems like a lame excuse, but who knows.

I have an appt at the local branch tomorrow. One thing that surprised me was the branch manager called me after I made the appointment to ask questions about my business. I have a sole prop and told him the name of the business which is the same as what's on my chase business cards. He then asked have I registered the name with the state? I said no, it's just a sole prop so no need, plus I already have a chase business card under that business name. He said no dice for a checking account, it had to be registered. I said, well fine, I'll just register it under my name since it's a sole prop using my ss# so it really doesn't matter. He begrudgingly said ok... It felt like a bizarre interaction. Almost like he didn't want to open the account for me to get the bonus. Also it's an hour and a half appointment which he demanded lol. Wish me luck tomorrow, it's already starting to feel like it's not worth it...
I opened a business account with them last month and called the customer service number today to see if they would honor this change in promotion. They told me that I need to go to a physical location and speak with a business relations manager to see if they could change it. So I guess I'll be reporting back once that happens.

Am I ineligible if I already have a chase consumer checking account? I have a sole proprietorship and would like to get in on this offer.

Anyone have luck opening Chase business checking accounts online only (as sole proprietor), without having to go into a branch?
Nope. Had to go into the branch to get it done, but it was pretty extensive paperwork and took about 2 hours, but I had a great conversation with my banker at Chase. He was extremely helpful, which is not always the case with other people I've encountered at Chase.

If you have your documentation for C or S Corp, I think the online process works smoother. The SP route requires other documents and verification, probably because they don't want every Jack and Jane opening up fake business accounts that won't bring in new money into the account.

No, you're only ineligible if you already have a business account under that same EIN/SS#

I just finished up at the local branch and I was successful in getting the $400 promo applied to the business checking account. Now I just have to deposit the $2K and make the 5 transactions to get the reward.

I got my business checking account using my SS# as a sole-prop. The whole process took almost 2 hours and I left with a binder of paperwork. If you go the sole-prop route you should register your company under your own name, unless you've already registered your business with the state. As the other SD'er said, there's a ton of questions and hoops to jump through for the account. Overall I'd say it was marginally worth my time. The online promos are so much for efficient when playing the rewards game.

Does the paperwork require additional fees?
Or is it just getting a free EIN from the IRS.

Unclear about the paper work since sole prop, I believe, can just use SSN and does not need register for anything

Not sure if I understand your question, but no the paperwork didn't require any additional fees when I applied at the branch. I just simply used my legal name and SS# on the app to apply as a sole-prop. Just be prepared to actually describe your 'business' so they can assign the appropriate MCC. If you try to apply using a business name other than your legal name, you'll have to have the necessary paperwork showing that the business is registered with the state.

Went into my local branch today and they tried the new code I generated to my email. It did not work and they would not honor it. Bummer

You can close next day after your bonus. I think You will need to wait 12 months after to be eligible for the promotion again.
