I used to love Cici's as a teenager. Now in my mid 30s, I go about once a year to remind myself why I only go once a year. After my most recent visit (and my local store is probably the nicest & cleanest one in the whole company - a germophobe owns it) I think I'm finally going to cease my annual visits. No bad experiences, just tired of the terrible food quality. Cheapest ingredients imaginable, "high gluten" dough, watered down ranch, broccoli always starting to mold. Not to mention you always feel like crap every time you leave regardless of how full (or not) you get. The only pizza really worth it there is the flatbread-like pizzas they sometimes serve simply because it's less crappy dough, but it still has the crappy toppings. I finally learned my lesson and added it to my 'banned' list. I'm sure most people (especially those with kids) will disagree with me and that's fine (not trying to be the diabetes guy in the soda thread), just giving my two cents for anyone not familiar with them.

Pizza buffets are a dying breed. Only reason I enjoy going to cicis is to remind me how awesome Pizza Hut *used* to be.

Get the whole team together after a win and storm Pizza Hut at lunch time. Managers would panic and say "MORE PEPPERONI! MORE SAUSAGE!" as we poured in the door.

Cicis just doesn't have the same energy

I feel like it depends on the location. There's a few near me, and some are good while others are worse quality. I will say their pizzas are very oily, but you can ask them to make any pizza free of charge (like Flatbread), which is a plus.

What's funny is people complaining about the quality of the pizza at Cici's. It's cheap ass pizza for a ridiculously low price. It's not artisanal pizza. I will always take the cheap pizza over the expensive one. It's pizza , as long as it's not burnt or raw it'll taste good.
No, it doesn't taste good. If you are very low on funds and you need calories to stay alive, then this is ok . Beans and rice are cheaper if you are on the brink of starvation. It tastes better if you can cook and arguably healthier for you.
People choose to eat cicis because it's dirt cheap and drops a lump of calories into their bellies. It's a tool for survival, not an enjoyable outing to eat good/decent restaurant food. The deal is ok, but you have to be honest. Food quality and taste match the low price. You can find a tastier cheap meal at Costco Food Court (no membership required).

None in Chicago
Eating Cicis in Chicago must be like some sort of minor offense crime. I would not eat there even if they paid me lawyer hourly rate.

Pizza Hut brought their buffet back. I went a few days ago, $10 for pizza, pasta, salad, cheesesticks. Good deal.

CiCi's have already closed over 90% of their nationwide US locations after they peaked in the 2000s. It's now more a YMMV deal and very hard to find a location.

As of 2 months ago, the lunch buffet for Mountain Mike Pizza in Texas was $12.99

Cici's is $4.99

It's almost triple the price, not a few bucks more.
In California, buffets are now $28 per person. Be very thankful of the $12.99 price in Texas.

For real. I remember $3.99 no drink for all of my adolescence. Then it went to $4.99 and $3.99 on promo deals. No big deal. Now $4.99 is the sale coupon price and... I don't even know how much full price is. I think I remember it being much higher now, but drink is included?

The pizza is never good.LMAO

This is all-you-can-eat of "pretty good pizza".

And I think we all feel this same way.

Drink isn't included, it's another like $2.50 I think. I remember back in like 2008 during the recession when Cici's did a $2.99 promotion.

I also went as a kid and am now in my 30s. Those were good times 👍 but now I rarely go. It's just not the same.

Never visited since long time but prior when I went there used to be several groups of hefty people daily who used to sit there for very long hours and wouldnt leave even after done as everything including refills was unlimited for probably $3-$4, some sat from when open to shut, kept eating, drinking, going bathroom, chatting then eating / drinking again....., felt sorry for manager and cleaners who just kept watching helplessly. 😂 I literally felt their chair is going to break now.🤣

If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to go out.
It's self-service. You go to the bar to get the food. You get your own drink. Do you tip at McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, Wendy's...? Fast food workers get $20/hr in CA. When was the last time you tipped at Walmart , Target, or Best Buy? Cicis employees are not paid at the waitstaff rate like actual waitstaff.
