I used to love Cici's as a teenager. Now in my mid 30s, I go about once a year to remind myself why I only go once a year. After my most recent visit (and my local store is probably the nicest & cleanest one in the whole company - a germophobe owns it) I think I'm finally going to cease my annual visits. No bad experiences, just tired of the terrible food quality. Cheapest ingredients imaginable, "high gluten" dough, watered down ranch, broccoli always starting to mold. Not to mention you always feel like crap every time you leave regardless of how full (or not) you get. The only pizza really worth it there is the flatbread-like pizzas they sometimes serve simply because it's less crappy dough, but it still has the crappy toppings. I finally learned my lesson and added it to my 'banned' list. I'm sure most people (especially those with kids) will disagree with me and that's fine (not trying to be the diabetes guy in the soda thread), just giving my two cents for anyone not familiar with them.
Pizza buffets are a dying breed. Only reason I enjoy going to cicis is to remind me how awesome Pizza Hut *used* to be.
Get the whole team together after a win and storm Pizza Hut at lunch time. Managers would panic and say "MORE PEPPERONI! MORE SAUSAGE!" as we poured in the door.
I feel like it depends on the location. There's a few near me, and some are good while others are worse quality. I will say their pizzas are very oily, but you can ask them to make any pizza free of charge (like Flatbread), which is a plus.

CiCi's have already closed over 90% of their nationwide US locations after they peaked in the 2000s. It's now more a YMMV deal and very hard to find a location.
Isn't Cicis HQ based in DFW? Plano, TX? It's just my guess because some how they still exists out here?
Unless they have a decent salad bar you want to take chances on, this is almost the price of a Dominos pizza. At least Dominos is a consistently ok pizza. We had Cicis around here which I have purposely avoided.

It's self-service. You go to the bar to get the food. You get your own drink. Do you tip at McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, Wendy's...? Fast food workers get $20/hr in CA. When was the last time you tipped at Walmart , Target, or Best Buy? Cicis employees are not paid at the waitstaff rate like actual waitstaff.
I agree with this, but your post reminded mention McDonald's reminded me of something. I went to a new McDonald's last week. They have ONE register with a employee at it. 4 Credit Card only self-checkouts and 1 Cash only self check-out machine. The one run by the cashier charges you a $2.50 surcharge to get a person to take your order! They are so new they still have hiring signs up. Starting pay is $13.75 an hour. So I'm wondering where does this $2.50 go? I asked the manager. His answer was "Corporate gets it"...so they charge us more and the employee doesn't see it.

You get stuck with ONE flavor at Domino's though. Variety is worth it, especially since this is $5 and the cheapest Pizza Domino's sales is $7.99 with a coupon. You get salad, pasta, pizza, sides, and desert at Cicis.
Pizza Hut brought their buffet back. I went a few days ago, $10 for pizza, pasta, salad, cheesesticks. Good deal.
Yeah I think it depends on where you are; my town didn't bring it back but where my fiance is (2 hours north) they've had buffet back for at least a year now -but it is weekends only.
What's funny is people complaining about the quality of the pizza at Cici's. It's cheap ass pizza for a ridiculously low price. It's not artisanal pizza. I will always take the cheap pizza over the expensive one. It's pizza , as long as it's not burnt or raw it'll taste good.
Don't get me wrong, it has it's place. But I'm willing to bet 2/3 people would be willing to pay $1-3 more to increase the quality of the food dramatically.
And I wasn't comparing to top shelf pizza. I'm simply comparing it to something like Domino's. Most people would be stuffed before they finish a large pizza. A large pizza at Domino's is $7.99. So yes, I feel it should be at least as good as Domino's. But sadly it's nowhere on the same stratosphere, and even more sad considering the huge game rooms most now have supplementing the bottom line. My store just built a divider wall that took away the equivalent of about 12 tables to add extra games to that area.

More chemicals in their food than our sky. But hey, it's $5.00! Good find though!
