Just for the record, this is meant to be used with the Frame tv. If you aren't concerned with asthetics, or don't have space limitations, then you should be getting the Q version. Sounds so much fuller.

Per RTings, the frequency across the board is better for the HW (blue) than the Q990C (green). Notice the dip on the q990 at 250hz to 400hz which can contribute to the tinny sound on dialogue some have complained about. The Q990c also has more dips from 70hz-150hz, which is very important for getting male voices to sound like male voices and not laptop speakers. What I don't understand is that the frequency response on the Q990c gets an 8.5 but the HW gets a 8.0. To me, HW looks better across the board but I do believe the Q990c can sound fuller with the bigger soundbar and subwoofer, just confused.

I listened to the S800B in Best Buy and it sounded like it was missing something. I ended up with the Q800B and it too sounded kinda flat out of the box. But once you mess around with the settings the bass hits hard and the surround sound stage, for like explosions and such, is so good.

I'm just trying to understand these 2 items as I want to take my old Vizio SB3281 to my bedroom, and replace my living room soundbar.

You would need to find a reputable review site that reviews both or view several reviews for each bar separately. That being said ARC vs eARC won't make much difference for either of these soundbars, and your eARC port on your TV is backwards compatible with ARC (unless you listen to uncompressed high quality audio sources, but even then soundbars aren't the greatest choice for that). Not sure what other "ports" are included that you would be interested in or why since you did not elaborate. Just based on what I know about this model and that Vizio though this one will have much better overall audio quality, and you can add rear speakers to this one too. I would just read reputable reviews though to get a real idea based on your exact use case.

I don't know about the rest of your configuration but I can tell you that the bar you linked claims Atmos, but it's only a 2.1 system. That has me thinking it means it can decode Atmos but nothing more. The one on deal here is 3.1.2 with expandability to 5.1.4.

Too bad Rtings requires you to sign up to get this report. Is there a way to get with some sort of free trial membership? Wondering how they set them up, app or otherwise, to arrive at the ratings.

So i wasnt happy with the sound really and messaged customer service to return. At first they said they would refund $35 as to avoid a return and I said no thank you. Then they messaged again saying they would refund me $80 to keep.

Had a chance to use this for a few days Spotifying and playing movies (via NAS). It's a few steps up from my Yamaha ATS and quite happy with it. The surround/virtual options are kinda neat and kinda works. The highs and mids are quite good but could use more bass. The wood bezel is nice too.
