I've had it for a few weeks now, it is not standard OLED. It is QDOLED second GEN screen. Will do 144Hz. TV is phenomenal. Got it on the last deal with the free sound bar.

I respect your decision, because after all, it's yours to have. But I can almost guarantee that any new technology in QD isn't going to be worth the $1500-$2000 price increase from what this TV is selling at right now unless money is no object. I watched a famous TV tech guy on YouTube yesterday that is in the know about as much 2024 TV information that's out there, including straight from the manufactures that have offered insider information and he said there was nothing pointing towards big changes in QD for 2024 and it still will not be offered in 83" while Lg will offer MLA OLED in the 83" in 2024. The biggest change was Sony ditching OLED For its flagship TVs in 2024 going to mini LED instead because of their new targeted zone backlight technology. I thought that sounded crazy and there is no way it could be as good as OLED but I watched a video on how it works. It's pretty interesting. Full disclosure here Ive always purchased Samsung for the last 25 years and I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. I did well over 100 hours of Internet research on watching every review and comparison I could possibly find on the Internet and YouTube of all the 2023 TVs and for me I chose the LG 77" G3 after I weighed all the information for what was best for me. I'm really interested in seeing all this same information, throwing in what Sony is doing with mini LED this year but I couldn't possibly be more impressed than what I have been with my first LG Oled. My favorite life purchase so far.

Waiting to see what is new with QD next week at CES. Does seem like a great deal though especially if you got it with the soundbar.

Samsung has never officially communicated the technology of this TV or it's specifications. Rtings tested it, results were within margin of error/sample size against their S90C gen 1 panel test data. Values in service menu imply gen 2 panel. However out of box calibration was absolute crap, almost like the cheaper price vs S90C is them just skipping factory calibration (speculation). So if you buy this TV, look into calibrating it.

But hey, still a better TV than any WOLED TV....

Agreed but what's a week to see what is new. Pricing will have to continue to get more aggressive.

Very good point as well! The only difference between us then is you have much more self-control and patience than I do if there is a slickdeal on something I've been wanting. 😉

Samsung has been good to as well. My KS8000 has over 800 days of usage on it. I checked the service menu. Also I have a higher end Samsung from 2008 or so that still runs great as well. I hear ya on get it and enjoy it though. Honestly I don't expect much improvement on QD OLED in 2024. Just knowing that will make buying this tv much better.

Want to sanity check with the wisdom of this group ... A few days ago on this tip I got the LG C3 + 5 years warranty for $2,530 [$2,500 + Taxes - $200 Costco GC]. It's sitting in a box in my garage while I wait to see what happens w/ CES.

Would you rather this Samsung @ $2,182 + 1 year warranty or the LG C3 @ $2,530 + 5 year warranty?
Equivalent warranty via BestBuy takes this to $2,607.

Option B: This one got no traction, but is legit ... C3 for $2,024 and 1 year warranty. Is 4 years of warranty + Costco as the hassle-free dealer worth $310)?

Backstory: Haven't bought a TV in 10 years, my Sharp broke, turns on but doesn't progress past the starting company logo screen. Haven't kept up on TVs so not sure if they're notably more/less reliable than in the past.

I'm in the same boat. Sitting on a Samsung that's over 10 years old that's only 1080p and I may jump on this to get into the 4K bandwagon. The biggest issue with this TV (from rtings) appears to be no DTS audio or Dolby vision but I don't currently have a sound system capabable of that so not sure I really care.

Which soundbar, and when was that deal offered?

I bought this tv, returned s90c 77 for it when learning it's the SAME TV … saved me $500 off tv, and $100 off BBuy 5yr warr. Only difference is no feet cover … I look at the screen not the feet!
QD-OLED > WOLED … QD has almost perfect panel, no banding "sheer curtain" effect in dark grey or dark tan scenes, or see a rippling when panning. I have never gotten a good panel from LG nor Sony (A8H, A80J + L)
Huge difference for my viewing quality movies or TV, especially in the darker scenes. Don't miss the banding!
