Great price for what look like pretty highly rated peppercorns. However, this has been the regular price on Amazon for just over a year now per CCC. Just sayin'

Get the Costco ones. You can't go wrong and would be able to return them within one year (before expiration date) if you're unhappy …

I ran out (well, what I had was stale), so when I went to look, I found those.. about $3 below anything else. And, yes, I did notice it has been same price, but it doesn't make it not a deal, since nothing else comes without 40% of the price..

I bought a Peugeot after reading the recommendation from Wirecutter.
The top nut is prone to unscrewing itself as you are grinding.
Received one of these for christmas and it is infinitely better https://hexclad.com/products/hexm...er-grinder churns out way more pepper per rotation and is bulletproof.

"Tellicherry Peppercorns and "regular black pepper" both come from the exact same vine. ...
So a Tellicherry peppercorn is actually determined by size. When a black peppercorn is 4.25 mm pinhead or larger, it's "Tellicherry." That's all there is to it. Because Tellicherry are so much bigger than the other peppercorns, they make up a much smaller percentage of the crop. Oftentimes they represent 10% or less of any given harvest. There's less of them, so command a higher price at market.

There's actually another size class of Tellicherry peppercorns. When the peppercorns are 4.75 mm pinhead and above, they're called Tellicherry Special Extra Bold Peppercorns."

I use whole spices only, and grind on demand using one of these all-metal Turkish coffee grinders: https://www.specialtyturkishcoffe...e-grinder/. I liked the first one so much, I bought a second - one is set to coarse grind for savory rubs etc, and one set to fine/powder for warm spices (baking etc). You could totally get by with just one though. Peugeot would probably say the particle size distribution of their grinder produces a more exquisite flavor profile. I don't have the palette of a sommelier though, so I don't care.

I'd say yes, the quality of the Peppercorns matter. More so than the grinder even. That being said, it's a matter of taste (duh), and the difference is probably very subjective. I just use the old manual OXO grinder I've had for a decade most of the time and the blade coffee grinder (I keep just for spices) if I need a teaspoon or more for recipes. While I definitely can tell the difference between using pre-ground and whole, freshly ground pepper, I usually can't tell any difference when switching from one brand to another.
I think it's just like some people drink any old, pre-ground coffee and some insist on some fancy, fresh roasted and ground this or that (or somewhere in between.)

I have a ton of spices and had been looking at a lot of grinders for different reasons, I ended up getting a finamill because it has a grinder with quick change pods. You can just load them up with different spices and change them on the fly in a second. It's great because it actually has a corkscrew grinder that's made of crone or ceramic or something, but it has adjustable grind as well from fine to course. It works amazingly well, you might wanna look into it.

Read my above statement it might be a good alternative and it goes on sale sometimes around holidays.

This is what I bought after a bit of research after having had a few of them wear out or be too slow to grind. It has been great and I'd recommend it.

Why is everybody recommending expensive manual mills? Just get cheap Cuisinart Coffee Grinder that can be had for $10 or free at Kohl's and you can use it for any and all spices.
