Agreed. The screen is HP's most basic, commodity, non-touch model. Also the RAM is soldered.

However, the price is great for the features and at this price and with 16GB of RAM there are plenty of use cases (e.g. - basic productivity & browsing) which would be likely to do well over the long term in the current config.

Good luck!

For a laptop aimed at those with basic computing needs and a very limited budget, surprisingly HP didn't completely cripple this device. Yes, the CPU uses older Zen 2 cores but those have been paired with a low-end RDNA 2 iGPU (610M) and fast LPDDR5 RAM. It's a 4 core / 8 thread CPU, not a past-its-time dual core CPU found in some really cheap laptops. FWIW, I'm typing this response on a laptop with a Zen 2 Ryzen 5 2500U CPU and 8GB DDR4 RAM. I have no issues running MS Office, web browsing, watching YouTube videos. Having 16GB RAM benefits overall performance and should help ensure the iGPU has access to enough RAM. There is a NVME M.2 SSD instead of a much slower SATA III drive or eMMC drive.

Yes, HP skimped on the Wi-Fi module (1x1? C'mon...). The 14" FHD, 250 nits, 45% NTSC display is the panel of choice for entry level and business laptops. Same with a 720p webcam. Not having USB-C charging is disappointing but not unexpected at this price point. If you don't plan on taking this laptop on travel, the lack of USB-C charging is not a big deal.

Freckle, u need to find something constructive to do with your free time besides leaving idiotic remarks about people. The doctor provides a great service here at slick deals by alerting members to great computer deals. If you're not interested then move on.............

This is based on Zen 2 (2020 tech) and unlike every other Ryzen 5 since 2020 only has 4 cores. It performs worse than a Ryzen 3 and Core i3 from 3 years ago:

I never use the touchscreen on my laptop. I see no reason to when I use a mouse. Biggest waste of money most people never use.

cuz fingerprints really show on a large screen and the hand travel is clumsy compared to a mouse.
