This guy convinced me not to get it.
FWIW, I'm an online teacher and sit at my desk at home a lot. I use an exercise ball (yoga ball), all by itself, (not in a platform), that's properly inflated. I also got a pool noodle from the Dollar Store and made that into a circle so it keeps the ball in place when I get up or sit down. I've used this for a few months now and I love it. It takes some getting used to for sure. But, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Just my experience. Smilie

I feel like an exercise ball would be no better or worse to sit on than a short stool or milk crate with a cushion. Free milk crate is a slick deal, you will look PRO sitting at your office desk on milk crates making $94,000 a year.

As a long term ball user, which I have this exact one from the same company without the back rest. I've been using it for years and by far prefer it over a regular chair. I used to have pressure pain sitting on chairs, and this eliminated that. No more back pain either. The only pain I've had is sitting too much and having some pressure on my butt (bone), and that's unavoidable if you're sitting.

I'm a software engineer so I sit on my butt all day. Soon to be getting a standing desk, but I will not give up this "ball" chair.
10 hours per day at my desk... I started standing maybe 7 years ago when I got sciatica and could not sit. Standing has relieved most, if not all back/butt/shoulder problems.

My "standing desk" is just a regular desk propped up on a 17" Ikea bookshelf, which brings the keyboard drawer to the correct height (for me).

OK... back to rubber balls.Applause

As someone that is using the same chair for years, but without the back rest (see link below). I use it on carpet, and I lock the wheels so it's pretty stationary. The benefit of this ball has been immense to me. I used to get pressure pain underneath my thighs, and also a lot of back pain. As a software engineer I sit on my butt all day and this ball has been life changing. I used to use a larger exercise ball, but I found like in the video I would sometimes fall off it. This chair I have no such problem. The issue of twisting is a problem I'm not really experiencing.

I don't recommend a ball, I do recommend this chair without the back. I don't use the one with the back so I can't comment on it. Based on the video and bad posture, I think that happens with any chair and is up to you to keep a good posture. This chair helps me keep a better posture, because there's no back rest.

PS, I actually removed the metal ring that holds the ball in place. I love this thing, and would buy another one even at full price for my needs. It's worth a try for those that suffer from sitting a lot to give it a try.

I don't think I can stand for that long, and I used to do a job where I'd run around a lot, which also gave me back pain. I think it's more that we need to have variety. Some sitting, somel aying down, some standing, and overall move more. Maybe get a walking treadmill for the desk or something. Ultimately, being too long in one position is the real enemy.

I got used to it. One important thing is that your feet are well supported so they don't get tired. I wear Crocs (Santa Cruz loafers), plus stand on a little bathroom mat. Tried different mats and shoes but this combo works for me.

I agree that standing all day is just as bad. But, if you are standing already, moving around is 100x easier than when you have to get out of a chair first.

Brilliant idea, I've always had the issue of my ball rolling away from me between sets, I'm going to try your pool noodle hack!

Thank you for such a nice compliment! It definitely works for me! I just used duct tape to secure the ends and it has been fantastic Smilie
