Doesn't say nonstop, so looking at march dates for the $999 pp option:
JFK assuming 1stop, flight ~500/p with TAP/turkish and other similar players or ~800/p with British airways/lufthansa/etc. tier airlines
2 nights of accommodations at Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre or similar in Venice ~95/nt
2 nights of accommodations at PopApartment (studio apartment) or similar in Florence ~91/nt
2 nights of accommodations at Hotel Pineta Palace or similar in Rome ~130/nt
Rail from Mestre to Florence (tourist class), Rail from Florence to Rome (tourist class) - no idea what tourist class is but looks to be about $25/ea for business class. So $100 for this

So rough calculation of 1750-2350 for $1998, Maybe a deal if they use the bigger airlines, but if you're doing this anyway, seems easy enough to book your own and save

Just got back from Rome/Florence/Venice two days ago. The place is swarming with tourists, and I wouldn't even think of doing this in the summer. 2 days per city is fine, although rushed.

I don't think you fully grasp the problem here. No, it's not that there are a lot of tourists. It's that you literally can't walk down the street. You can't get into a restaurant. You can't go to the Colosseum. I've been to Japan twice in the past year, and I'm far more comfortable there than in most Italian cities. And this is in the winter, during the summer it's beyond.

Venice is especially hit hard, which is why they're starting to restrict tourism despite it being their only real economic driver. In fact, Venice is so overrun that there's nearly nobody who lives on the islands anymore - it's all hotels and tourists in the entire city, and it has no resources to deal with the crush. If you're trying to see local life, it's not just difficult there but impossible as there's no such thing. Nearly every store left is a tourist souvenir shop or crappy restaurant (the food in Venice is generally junk compared to other cities). Rome is a close second to this, although local life is outside the historic core.

Rome is essentially Disneyland - one attraction after another. It's not a real city, it's a theme park. And between the attractions, the walking, food, and cultural delve is crap. It's a C city with A+ attractions.

It's no surprise you think Rome is crap if you're attempting to push through the city in 8 hours.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Nor should anyone expect a quality experience in just one day.

Speeding thru a place would be much better accomplished in Japan. Precision and efficiency are part of life. Italy isn't like that. Rome is much more than a series of attractions and is nothing like Disney. If you think the food is crap, then you obviously have not spent any energy finding food.

Literally, 4 days ago, did Pantheon/Trevi Fountain/Colosseum/Vatican Museum/St. Peter's/Navona/Spanish Steps/Keats Shelly House, Cafe Grecco, Giolitti, and Alfredo alla Scrofa. In 8 hours on a day trip from Florence. You just need reservations and a 24 hour subway pass. If we had an overnight coulda done Castello as well.

That being said, I'm a total spaz and have used day trips or layovers to see more in one day than most do in a few. I'm really, really good at this stuff.
Fake news. No way you have time to see all those sites in any meaningful way in a day - especially when you are coming on a day trip from Florence. Just Google map all the locations and see what the commute time is in total and peeps will know this is B.S.

I mean, we've brought our kids to Disney world and plan for the chaos. I guess if you hate people or are oblivious that it's going to be busy, then yea it probably sucks. We are planning to go to Italy our first time next year, and plan for it to be touristy.

I agree you can do a lot more than the other person is suggesting as it just depends on your planning/pre-planning and what level of activity you want to be doing. If you're older/elderly then yeah it might be worth to spend more time and take things in but if you are somewhat active you should be able to do a lot as you don't really need to spend too much time at a lot of the popular venues. Have a plan and prebuy anything that requires a ticket and work your plan/travels around those times.

I have been through all 3 places and it has been very disappointing. Venice stinks a lot. Rome is crowded and beware of pickpocketers. Keep your passports and belongings safe. I had another tourist couple with me who had their pockets picked and wallet gone. They had a few hundreds in cash and credit cards all gone. Florence is OK. Historic but a bit overrated.

For solo flyers, nice deal. Brush up on public transportation in these cities and you'll be good to go!
P.S. I'm assuming decent airlines.

And they went there as a TOURIST!

Reminds me of the people who move to a small town then 5 minutes later complain about all the people moving in 'ruining the small town feel.' Wink

It's double the price if you go alone. The $999 starting price is for a double occupancy room, meaning that you are going with somebody else.

Rome is huge at least 4 days needed. Florence can be done in 2 days. Venice I'm not sure since never been.

I would encourage folks thinking about this to look into the transit between the cities. They are further away than many think and you may end up spending 3 half days transiting between the cities.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank TxDavid

I don't recommend this:
  • Hotels are not guaranteed - high chance of being walked.
  • Hotel in Venice is located in Venice Mestre - not Venice Central. You'll need to take transportation back & forth to the hotel.
  • Hotel in Rome is located far outside the city. More transportation costs.

Florence is home to Renaissance art, so if you are a fan of that, you'll definitely need more than two days. Venice you can do in two. Agree with Rome, 4 days minimum, though you could spend a week there easy.
