Does anyone know what type of batteries they are? Lithium or lead acid?

24V lithium batteries (21V nominal, 24V max). You need all 4 of them to run the snowblower. Even if one fails, you're out of a working machine

Sun Joe is same brand and I think those batteries will also work in it as long as they are also IONMAX models

Price looks attractive but reviews of the machine itself and the customer service and parts availability has me thinking over and over. If they had given at least 1 spare battery (ideally 2), I would have taken a chance at this price

Damn that is a good deal. Bought this from Walmart a month ago at $600, and I thought that was a good deal. Just used it yesterday on Wisconsin heavy wet snow, and it worked better than any gas snowblower I've ever had. Granted I've always had used snowblowers in the past.

It was available this morning in MI. Almost bit, but my Toro is only 3 seasons old and couldn't justify the change.

How big of an area did you use the new snowblower on. Did the batteries last for the whole time or did you need to recharge them along the way?

If you live somewhere where you get a decent amount of snow, I'd be very leary of this. I had 13 inches of very heavy stuff two nights ago, and a long driveway. Had to do it twice. North Carolina and the likes...go for it. New England - not a chance.
