I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

You absolutely can. I had to close up my vent egress when I switched from a traditional washer dryer to the GE Profile All in One. The machine actually blows cool air into the basement. Another big benefit is that a traditional dryer pulls in air, which your HVAC has just conditioned, heats it up and blows it out the vent. This means that outside air is pulled into the house and your HVAC has to condition that new outside air (at your expense). This machine just circulates the same air in the house, like your fridge, so it helps with HVAC bills.
Just be aware that this weighs over 300 lbs.

I'm pretty sure it's a WM6998HBA... if so, HD is showing it for $1498 in my market...

https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-4-.../313550124

So, potentially cheaper through HD? (edit: Backordered until March 19th in my market)
This is not the same unit.

220 or 120? Did not see the spec. That's a big selling point.

Ordered one. Was looking for a W & D combo to replace my old GE Adora combo.
I am going to keep the old dryer. Will replace the washer only with this and see how this goes before I dump by Dryer too. Dimensions match with my current GE Washer.

Exactly what we're planning to do. My wife is having concerns about the 5.0 cu ft capacity vs our current 7 cu ft dryer. Replacing the washer with this guy. If needed we could still dry with the old dryer.

Can anyone with a family of 4 or more comment how this works for them and can it keep up with the piles of kid laundry without buying 2?

This is pretty much a brand new unit. Check online reviews if you find the specific answer. (Best Buy, Home Depot, LG.com, Youtube etc.)
