Bought this deadbolt before because I didn't want an overly smart lock. Has ability to store several passcodes. Can program one time use passcodes as well.

No ability to connect to an app or online, which is what I wanted, as I didn't want the tech to become outdated and no longer work.

I also wanted physical buttons so I could still unlock with gloves on and not have to worry about having touch sensitive gloves for other style keypads.

This lock hit a certain sweet spot for me. Can recommend. Bought a keyed doorknob to go with mine and used the Kwikset Smart key feature to make all keys the same.

Per the description: Activate the auto-locking feature and choose between 30-second, 1-minute, 3-minute, 5-minute or 10-minute time delay for convenience and peace-of-mind.

If that's what you mean, of course.

Does it lock itself?

Never understood the point of this. My neighbor has one & every time I go over there I just touch the lock & it opens. Crazy?

Aside from the lever, how is the main part different from say the Amazon Basics Electronic Keypad Deadbolt Door Lock?

the posted lock has smartkey feature. You can rekey it to use your own keys.

If you not going to use the handle...then this is not a deal. Look up powerbolt 250 for a similar lock without the handle.

Just to add my .02, dogs can use these large levers to open doors once they figure it out.

Took us a while of blaming each other before we figured it out. Now we have to keep doors locked to keep the doors closed at all times. Super annoying 😒, flies, lost of a/c, heat.

If you have intelligent dogs stay away for exterior door usage.

The ANSI grading of the Amazon one seems to be Grade 3, while the OP is Grade 2. So the Amazon one is less secure.

When an app/online service is no longer usable but it has not changed it is not what has become "outdated" - in fact it is the inability of your phone manufacturer to keep things updated that is the issue, not the manufacturer's app. For example, if the MFR's app won't work in a newer version of Android it is not the app maker that has an outdated app, it is that the OS vendor did not update THEIR code to keep supporting functions that were integral for the device to work in the first place. It is called a Breaking Change and there is no valid reason for it to occur, even when they claim security issues it is generally not the case.

Microsoft was a great example of this with the Visual Basic programming language - they stopped updating support for it but it still worked perfectly fine 20 years later other than changes that were made in the OS that broke compatibility with functionality that the system once claimed to guarantee. ie: they broke the guarantee not the app maker.
