Made it 12 days before I broke my New Years resolution not to buy any more guitars. Oh well, it was a good run.
I got in on the G5210-P90 for $300 deal. I love it. Great looking and sounding guitar. I think I would also have been very happy with this deal. $200 for this guitar seems an absolute steal to me!
I told myself I would try to learn guitar again if a nice looking guitar goes on sale. There were a couple that were either out of my price range or looked too "metal" for me.

This is the one that got my wallet out! Thanks for the find OP.

Just got this in today and played it for about an hour. Very nice feeling to play, action was setup perfectly. Frets are good for this price range IMO. Nothing sharp. Fingerboard is wide and easy to play. Tone is wonderful, and I really like the pickups so far. Biggest surprise was that the tuners feel great. Thought they'd be cheap.

As for appearance, the mahoghany color of the stain is beauful. The grain matching on mine could've been better, which is my biggest complaint. But unless you buy locally or from Sweetwater, you can't really control that. The cream binding on the body and neck looks really good.

My first guitar from Indonesia (these are made for Fender/Gretsch by Cort), and I'm impressed!

How does this compare to Squire Classic Vibe 70s Strat?

Received my guitar today. Here are my impressions. My guitar was manufactured in 2021. Strings were corroded and rough feeling although to be expected for a 3 year old closeout. Initial feel was fairly heavy, but well balanced. I put it on my scale and it weighed 8lbs 6oz. From all the models listed with weight on Sweetwater, I guess I unlucked out and got the heaviest. Body stain color is really nice blends perfectly with the neck finish. The guitar I got was a 4 piece body which I have no problem with, but the seam between the 2 halves was not in the middle but off center to the left. My eyes can't unsee this. I plugged it in and the P90 sounded great. Nice single coil sparkle with a little extra warmth and gain. The Broadtron humbucker also sounded good, although this is my 2nd Gretsch so I knew what to expect. Upon close inspection the tone knob was crooked and the tone control did absolutely nothing. I took off the back cover looking to see if a wire was loose, but didn't notice anything off. I went online and contacted Adorama about a replacement and got a free return shipping label. I think if the issues I found can be resolved in the replacement, this will be a really nice guitar for the price.

On Sweetwater the guitar is listed as being 7 lbs 13 oz. I'm newer to guitars - does the guitar weight typically vary that much for the same guitar?

The weight can vary sometimes within a few pounds with the exact same guitar. It really doesn't matter that much as it's more personal preference. Some people think a heavier guitar has better tone. Me personally I don't think weight has anything to do with how an electric guitar sounds but my back sure appreciates a lighter guitar.

Mine was made in 2022, and also has a 4 piece body. Not sure on weight, but doesn't 'feel' too heavy. I love the U shape neck, my only other electric is a MIM Strat and I didn't realize how uncomfortable the thin neck was for me until I tried this one. Also love the tone for the same reasons you mentioned.

Is this worth buying to replace a 25 year old Washburn that was $120 new in 1999? I'm unable to get the intonation set up correctly and it always sounds sharp/flat when played regardless of tuning. Debating getting this for $200 instead of paying someone to set up Washburn correctly.

Absolutely. Guitar manufacturing and standards are much higher than they were in 1999, especially for something on the low end. This will be a nice upgrade.

I was so hard getting through the holiday deals without dropping bank on a new guitar, but I did it. And I still haven't succumbed. As long as iconian keeps posting up the deals, I'm sure to break sometime this year.

Received it yesterday and am impressed with the quality and playability. I ended up having to lower the bridge quite a bit but other than that no set up required. Can't say enough about how nice this guitar is for $219.
