Got my $300. But I think I'll be closing the account soon. I hate chase as a company
Thanks!

Does anyone here know if a ACH/Direct transfer from Fidelity/Cap1/Schwab would qualify for DD?

$12 a month unless you have $500 in direct deposits total each month. I just have part of my check go there, then I instantly transfer it out lol. Or you can have a minimum amount to avoid the fee, I forget how much.

Anyone know how soon I can close the account and avoid fees? Got the bonus just a few days after the first direct deposit, easy money!

What's considered direct deposit? Can I just ACH? Or needs actual direct deposit from employer?

They will not tell you those dates due to privacy but you can visit the branch.

Even at $800 (the offers I get in the mail) these things are way too many hoops to jump through, and then if you don't jump through more hoops they'll nail you with a $15 service charge. I'm very content with my Fidelity Investments checking which pays SPAXX yield (currently 5% ish) all day, every day, w/o hoops.

It's not their Cash Management Account, is it? I tried to find what checking accounts they offer, but the only one I found is the Cash Management Account with 2.72% APY.

No. The CMA pays lower interest, but it's the only account type they have that'll rebate 3rd party ATM fees. You can add check-writing to any brokerage account and get the SPAXX auto-sweep and rate (currently ~5%). They came out with another account type called "Bloom" about a years ago that's more specifically designed for saving and spending. I view it as a way to entice those who are not inclined to save to do so, so it has some other little perks to gamify and incentivize those people. The Bloom and brokerage accounts all sweep to SPAXX automagically but if you need to take cash out of an ATM, transfer it to the CMA and withdraw it there to get the ATM fee rebate. Silly, huh? But that's what it is.
