Ram upgradable?
Yes I own this laptop and I added 32GB Single slot RAM even though it states support of 16GB only, I am running 40GB RAM and 3TB(1TB + 2 TB) SSD I like everything but fan noise.

FWIW: even though it is open box, register with Asus and get 1 year warranty as well. I am not sure but I also got a free year of accidental warranty as well.

I'd be all over this if it had USB C charging.

Is this any good for video editing? My wife's macbook air 2020 intel version is just outdated and can't do any video editing. We were looking to trade that in ($385 value) for a refurb Macbook Pro M2 Pro 16 gb 1 TB HD space for $1,950, and with the trade-in value, it's still more than what we were looking to pay but the Intel Macbook Airs will be useless soon, so I'm wondering whether to still get some value out of it with a trade-in, or get a Windows laptop instead which is a lot less. It's not any serious video editing but more for hobbies.

This will be fine for video editing especially if it's just a hobby. Just would need to be sure she is ok with working on Windows if she's been used to MacOS.

It doesn't come with type C Charger but it does support charging through Type C, I regularly use it directly with my type C docking station

Many one star reviews said it shut down itself. Is this fixable if the laptop passes the return time?

I am guessing it is not shutdown instead sleep mode or display being off. Probably something to do with power options

as others mentioned it just means it gets the job done, as in it meets the requirements for the vast majority of games but keep your expectations low and certainly don't buy it for that sole intended purpose.
Looks like better reasons to buy would be the bright 2.8K OLED screen, ability to add a lot of RAM and storage, a pretty large battery, and presumably good overall performance. A 3050 is nothing amazing but most every comparable laptop with an OLED screen that I've seen has integrated graphics, unless it's a whole lot more expensive.

Might be what I'm looking for now. This would be my minimum screen size, I love OLEDs, has a full keyboard, and the price is stomachable.

Yeah it would be a learning curve to go from MacOS to Windows, but it's not entirely a bad thing since businesses use Windows. That being said, I get $385 credit for the Macbook air and we paid $300 for the Final Cut Pro app, I guess I'm pot committed at this point and will get the M2 Pro... It'll last a lot longer than that Air did.

In a mid-spec laptop, for anything you'd realistically do with this machine, you'll never notice the difference between 3.0 and 4.0. And if you've seen a similarly spec'd and priced laptop with 5.0, post the link. You won't be doing that though.

And of course past prices don't necessarily indicate that we'll see that price again. Time machine deals don't get a lot of love here, for obvious reasons.

Happy wife happy life.
