a little light on the total power budget...I would wait for the 8 port 123 w for $79 when it comes back on sale.

if $50 is your budget, https://www.amazon.com/Gigabit-Sw...0899CMJ14/ would be my choice. Been using it with 6 cameras POE for 3 years.

PoE switches are mainly for people running security cameras that are powered by the network cable. Normal switches don't have powered ports, but the PoE ones do, so you don't have to run an additional power line to each camera.

I was wondering this. Might be borderline OK for 4 APs. Never knew the 123W was this low, thanks for the info.

Another clone of that one for under $30 (AC, 30% off on page for me). $40 without coupon.

TEROW PoE Switch, 10 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch( 8 PoE+ Port with 2 Extra Uplink Port), 802.3af/at Compliant | Plug & Play | Shielded Ports | Traffic Optimization | Fanless Quiet https://a.co/d/26ZIfyc

I've used this for garage/outdoor cameras for a couple years now.

Question: I have a Reolink NVR that supplies power over PoE to cameras; theoretically, could I stick this downstream from one of my APs and run more cameras that will record to my NVR?

Does it have web interface to restart the camera? Or auto restart the camera is there is no data transfer detected?

Yes, you can. I have a Reolink NVR and my POE camera into this switch. The NVR will recognize the camera and may need any credentials you set on the camera. I do this because my NVR is on the other side of the house and I'm too lazy to run cat5 cables around the house. I start at a new position with the switch. Hope this helps.

The one you suggested is managed. This one is un-managed

If $50 is your budget buy a Nortel or Avaya 48port POE gigabit manager switch used on eBay. A device that was ~$4,000 new 10 years ago is surely a great value at $48 with free shipping used on eBay. They also have a mode called Fast Forward that none of the switches under a couple thousand have, it forwards a packet AS it is still being received - this causes no propagation delay that normal consumer hardware has. In fact you could probably push a packet through a dozen of them faster than 1 consumer switch could do.

Big issue is if all I want to do is turn off/on or reset a single PoE port so that a hung device like a camera can be rebooted, these require you to login in on a browser to a full GUI and then navigate few screens to do the down and up.
Top of my wish list is either SNMP or some app based shortcut that could do this with a single click.

Just a general question from non tech person... what is this use for? I have modem/router and all stuff connected with Wi-Fi. Do I use this for something more useful to make home internet connection good?
