Here are my reasons for purchasing it via Apple.

1.) 4k versions pretty much guaranteed vs who knows right now at VUDU.

2.) Free 4k upgrades from Apple if the movies get upgraded later.

3.) I trust Apple to not mess things up. Movies anywhere only works when given the right information. I have had some issues with VUDU not relaying the right information.

4.) Apple has the best quality so most of my digital is direct from them, even if it is MA.

You can apparently only earn two per month, so you'll get two.

People are not listing the best reason to buy from iTunes instead of Vudu. iTunes will list these movies separately in your library VS Vudu would bundle all of these together and you would have to click on that bundle each time to see the list of movies.

And Salt extended doesn't port to Vudu, and I'm not sure if Stripes extended isn't porting to Vudu at all, or it's only in HD.

Dick and 1776 don't port from iTunes to MA/Vudu.
I wasn't specific enough, I meant that it should port to VUDU if they are the same thing. But you're right. I don't see anything different from iTune's Dick and VUDU's Dick. VUDU's 1776 was a Director's Cut, and iTune's not. Salt is showing up as Unrated in VUDU and it has 101 minutes which is the exact playing time as iTune's extended version. There is a Director's cut which is 104 min.

I'm too lazy to cross out the ones I already have. I kinda want to buy this just to see how many I don't have. If it's 50, it's only $2 per title (that's on par to scanning bar codes). Anything more than 50, and that's gravy!

Finally, a deal on digital movies that is worthy of being called a "Slick Deal." Good range of years, lots of classics, some of which I already "owned." But as long as I net at least 20 movies I'd have eventually paid $5 bucks apiece for, I've broken even here.

And, it's a "purchase" that can be stolen any time by the studios without reimbursement. Sad state of affairs, gotta get it together on a Plex server. But for now they are honoring most of these "purchases" and keeping them available.

We wouldn't "download a car," but the studios will happily "steal a 'purchased' movie" without shame.

Movie buffs, since I bought the package how do I redeem the free movies after I join the Sony rewards?

Any recommendations which ones I watch first as your favorites?

I rarely redeem my Sony Blu-ray digital codes, so I know I don't have many. I noted the number of movies I own before the purchase, and the number I own after. This is 88 movies for me, and it also frees up about 20 digital codes from my Blu-ray collection that I can use to sell or trade. People wonder why my friends and I have so many redundant codes to trade, this is why.

Sony will give you a MA code by email. But the code only works for redemption for the following movies for the current cycle: Desperado, Peggy Sue Got Married, La Bamba (which is included here), The Sweetest Thing, Lawrence of Arabia, Open Season, Tears of the Sun, St Elmo's Fire, Silverado, Catch and Release.

Also, there is a max of 12 Sony Rewards per account. Since you just started one, you won't have any issues. After this purchase, I'm already on my 10th. So I only have two more left before I have to create another Sony account.

Thanks. But what if the movie isn't supported By MA?

If TV or non MA, you'll have to use the service you purchased it from on its supported devices. Microsoft being about the most restrictive currently.

Movies Anywhere currently supports certain movies from the participating studios listed below.

Hello again everyone.

So many questions have been asked and mostly answered but let me address just a few more.

As I said in one of the first posts, these issues with porting to VUDU, losing extras, and losing the current 4k versions as well as the future 4k upgrades is why I paid extra to purchase it via iTunes/Apple. Past that people have mentioned VUDU's bug with only listing this as a "set" without adding it to a list.

But you should be purchasing an iTunes gift card from Target to save the extra $5 if you don't already have plenty of credit lying around. No, it isn't on sale from Target but with their Red Card debit or credit cards, you save 5% instantly on every purchase of iTunes gift cards.

Takes less than an hour to get the digital gift card and we know this bundle is a real sale and not a pricing error so you have time.

Yes if you have credit at Microsoft or VUDU you can purchase there but for me, I would need it to be $70 or less from those options for all that you are giving up vs $95 (outlined above) from iTunes.

When I talked about the quality of the stream, many backed me that Apple's iTunes has the best quality. Yes, it is actually a fact. I think these days streaming from MA (movies anywhere) is the second best but if you have nice equipment, there is a difference between the two.

Someone asked well can't I purchase it from VUDU or Microsoft and then still use the MA port to watch it in the better iTunes quality via their apps or Apple TV boxes? Yes BUT if the movies that are in 4k on iTunes were ported into iTunes via MA at only HD, than that is all you get from iTunes. You also will not receive any future 4k upgrades that any of these movies get from purchasing it via iTunes.

Past that, as we have seen with DICK, Stripes, and 1776--even movies that are MA don't always transfer correctly--especially out of VUDU (in my personal experience).

Not that anyone asked but here is my 2cent about watching your collection. I have owned nearly every streaming box and dongle created, Apple TV boxes are the best performance and experience with the best reliability. They are now so cheap they are worth the money for every TV you own.

This is coming from a PC and Android guy. You can install and use iTunes on desktop PCs to purchase and manage your account just fine or purchase via the Apple TV boxes.

Before someone thinks I don't mean I have owned every box...I have personally owned over 50. Yes, fifty boxes. I started with ROKU devices before switching to mainly FireTV devices by Amazon, then Shield then first Apple TV boxes, then highest end ROKU, Comcast's box, then newer AppleTV, then newer AppleTV,etc etc.

And yes, I own smart TVs as well. Just get the Apple boxes people. (Again, coming from a non-Apple guy)

Question for anyone experienced with MA:

If I get this bundle I'd love to remove at least 20 films which I'll never watch, that I'd prefer not to clutter up my MA account and screen. Is there any workaround for me to do this? MA says no:

How about on iTunes/ATV?

On my PC with iTunes, there's a delete from library option.
