Another Q150 is the perfect center speaker. Anything else will be a compromised design. Ask yourself, why don't you ever see "horizontal" MTM designs for left and right mains speakers? It's a bad design that creates audible artifacts.
Either way, if you sit between your main speakers, just use phantom center. ALL the center channel info is preserved and presented in the same phantom center image we've been listening to in stereo since it was invented. Just like watching a movie while wearing headphones = no center channel.
Yeah but that was almost 3 years ago - $350 is the same post-inflation price as $300 back then 😣
It went down to $300 or even lower from time to time if you can wait.

What would be a matching center channel speaker in this price range (around $150)? Can I use one of the Q150 as a center channel?

Matching center is Q250c $600. Yes, you can use it as center. Keep it upright to make sure tweeter is at center.

I recommend to listen to these before purchase. I find they are rather bright for my personal taste. I like KEF floorstanding but not the bookshelf. For a cheaper price the Klipsch bookshelf sounds very similar to me.

Amazon warehouse and accessories for Less both have some Q250 models for $499. not as cheap as you would like. A single Q150 could be used if it fits in your space (Much taller than the Q250C).

I will have 15 days to return, so I will check them out but can you please provide the mode # of Klipsch bookshelf speakers? I searched and came up with several model #s, Klipsch R-41M, RP-600M, R-50-M II etc.

None are perfect. Klipsch is also bright (with exception of some high-end models, of course). In fact, I'm shopping for KEF because of Klipsch is too bright.
R-41M is not good. RP-600M is better but not perfect.
In any case, you should use EQ/Room correction. That would help.
The reason I would go with KEF is Uni-Q to help with 3D sound imaging.

Look at the Mark II versions of the klipsches you mentioned. Klipsche has finally listened to customers and have made them more neutral.

accessories4less has Q150 recertified w/o retail pachage for 199.

https://www.accessories4less.com/...ker/1.html

Correction: the price is only for a single, not pair. My bad.

right, I don't have the Mark II but I heard good reviews.
Look like the bright issue is related to top end boost > 5kHz.
But RP-600M II should be compared to Q350 w/ 6.5" driver. I couldn't find RP-600M II on sale. (v1 is on sale for $350 right now)
If I go up in price point, I may pick up Q350 instead. Q350 is better, more neutral. Doesn't have this bright issue.
