You can try Micro Center open-box GPUs, if you have one nearby (https://www.microcenter
Also, Amazon Warehouse (https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-War...015897601
Either way, prices should go down by February 1, after Nvidia and AMD's January GPU releases. Good luck!

Old comment: Amazon seems to be matching Newegg's prices before the additional promo codes. So, Newegg ends up being cheaper.
And, before anyone chimes in about Newegg being all evil, Amazon is no saint. And Newegg has stepped up its returns policy and customer service since the last exposé by Gamers Nexus etc.

Either way, I'm not defending Newegg. Just saying that, since their recent returns scandal, about a year ago, they've gotten much, much better due to the backlash they received then.
In gaming benchmarks, the 7900 XT is not "$250 faster" than the 3080 imo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4NNK61
3080 is 30% to 40% faster in most games such as Dying Light 2, Plague Tale: Requiem, it's even 23% faster at 4K in Total War: Warhammer III, faster in CyberPunk in 1440p and 4K too.
With Ray Tracing enabled, the gains are more like 50%+.
This is without even mentioning all the bugs and problems AMD GPU's experience when compared to Nvidia GPU's. I've always been a big supporter of AMD, but they need to get their act together imo.
At 4k, on average, the RX 6800 XT is 6% slower without RT and 8% including RT. Here's a comparison from 9 months ago: https://youtu.be/rtt60ONpm44?si=
In the end, it depends on what type of gaming you do, which games you like to play, what features you use, and what upgrade cycle you plan on (i.e., 1-2 vs 4-5+ years). I would also add that, where applicable, whether you get 150 or 170 FPS won't necessarily make a huge difference. Just keep in mind that the RX 6800 XT will age better because it has 60% more VRAM.

For example, Doom Eternal should hit 4k 144hz very easily on this card. But I wouldn't expect it on a lot of newer games, particularly if you're not using FSR and you want to use ray tracing (but if you car about ray tracing you should be going with Nvidia).
Just go youtube and search for something like "RE4 Remake 7900XT". There are tons of benchmarks video that show you the performance with various ray tracing and FSR settings.

1080p resolution:
RX 6800 XT is 19.5% faster than RTX 3080
1440p resolution:
RX 6800 XT is 14.8% faster than RTX 3080
4K resolution:
RX 6800 XT is 8.2% faster than RTX 3080
Some of the newer games are vram hogs. It can handle a 3080 just fine.
the 6800xt timespy score stock on average is 19457, this is more on par with the 3080ti (19716)
It's overclockable to 21k+ ..at 22k that's 3090ti scores

its a 3080ti competitor, not a 3080. And extra vram on top (I have some titles and vr titles that use hog up vram like nothing, although 12gb sounds adequate for now)

I'll just get whatever is cheapest and performs best for the games I play.

but a 3080 isn't bad by any means if the price is right
Best budget deal I've seen for the price.
It's not worth more than $65 imo.
My 1070 Ti for $110 is the gold standard deal at that price point.
It's much, MUCH faster than a lowly 6500 xt.

7800xt is even a tad quicker and 499$ on Newegg with no coupons. Of course you have no dlss, but fsr isn't bad and supports every game. I'm just glad amd even exists or the prices would be high af without competition
