& OP! One of my parents enjoys their food and I'm contemplating this as a birthday gift for them.

And from the looks of it, most locations are participating except for those noted below:

I still remember our last visit to Applebee's we ordered and my wife got her food within about 20min for dinner and I assumed mine was coming out a bit later. 15min passed by and I called the waiter over to ask if my food is coming and he responded, "you didn't order anything..." where I was so shocked, I said simply "yes I did." in a calm voice. He insisted "no, you didn't." My wife is usually very quiet and the type even if her order is off she would just accept it and on this occasion she spoke up to back me up that I DID indeed order. Waiter didn't apologize or anything and treated as a new order. I mean if I work in that industry, even if the customer was wrong, I would have said "sorry, what would you like to order...".
This exact same thing happened to my family! After having the same discussion that you described with our waitress, I just had them box mine up to go since my family was already done eating. She had the same attitude as well. Couldn't believe it.

My calculations is (52 x 30) x 20% tip = $312 or half that (10%) for takeout tips and (52 x 30) x .08 tax (estimate tax rate) $125 tax so total spend about $200 + $312 tips + $125 tax = $637 spent for $1560 food.

All that said, I would probably do it but I bet it will sell out quickly like the Olive Garden Pasta Pass.
I pick up inside the store, therefore I don't tip. I would tip if they bring it o the car, but not 20% because the parking spots are about 8 feet from the front door.

This would be pretty good deal if you can use it "to-go." I can't find any terms. Often these types of deals are "dine-in only" as they are trying to upsell you on other items... sort of like "Well, I'm already getting $30 off, I might as well get the higher cost item," or how people are far more likely to get an appetizer when they have a $25+ gift card to eat.

But, getting it to go would totally negate that upsell option for alcohol and other items, and so on.

It SEEMS like it does include to-go orders though, as the description seems to indicate you can make orders through their app, so that sounds like yes, you would be able to order to-go.

I am totally going to buy this.

2 Bacon Cheeseburgers, 1 App, 2 drinks in NYC is $83 before tax, I imagine it's similar in bigger cities. Why is $70 unbelievable?
The original claim: "We went to my local Applebee's two weeks ago. Two bacon cheeseburgers with one large appetizer. The total was $70 with a tip. Even after I got 10% off for being a senior citizen."

There was nothing about drinks or anything else. Even with the exorbitant Times Square prices, that's $48 (we'll say the senior citizen discount covers tax). That means $70 (again, assuming Times Square) would have been a generous $22 tip.

It turns out though, that the commenter wasn't at a Times Square Applebees but was in the NYC area. However, Applebee's close to that zip code has a 2 for $25 unlike the Times Square 2 for $38. That makes 2 cheeseburgers and an appetizer $35.

However, it turns out the commenter was misleading in the initial post: "Two bacon cheeseburgers with fries around $17.95 each, appetizer was the largest one, combination of apps, over $20 plus one diet Coke. I'm not a cheapskate, tax was eliminated by discount. I don't live in a fly over state."

The commenter could have saved $1 doing the 2 for $25 deal with $10 to upgrade to the bacon cheeseburgers. But the "one large appetizer" was in reality, "the largest [appetizer]" with an added "combination of apps", and a Diet Coke.

This means it was different than what originally claimed. That's why people were justified in their disbelief, unless the commenter did a large tip.

So people are getting bent out of shape because the total was $63.46 - discount ($6.35) + tax ($5.32) = $62.43 + around $7.57 tip (which is only around 12%), is that right? So he lied? That is the total at his Applebee's, I did the math for everyone. Jesus, even if you take off the soda, he didn't lie. You guys need to get a life.

What they don't tell you is now all dishes will be $50...

And that the original value of "$1500" is because fountain soda costs $12, but has free refills

Not sure why everyone is getting jazzed up for this... you know they only have 10 of these to sell... I expect the site to crash in -1 second and applebees enjoying all this free marketing press...
It's like winning the lottery. Everyone gets excited at the chance to win, even though it's highly unlikely.
