The phone comes unlocked (it's the same as a Samsung Factory Unlocked phone). You can use it with another carrier's pSIM from Day 1 after activating then removing the Fi pSIM. You can also use its eSIM with another carrier along with the Fi pSIM.
sounds good, so after the probation period you can used it without being charged the discount. ? thanks

bought the s24 ultra ... got 650 off instantaneously.

I had tried the S23 Ultra deal few months back (i think oct 23 time-frame) , but had screwed up the process by using the eSIM so never got the instant $650 off then. So I had cancelled the line.

The 650 off is only on the $20 and $65 plan. $50 plan is only $250 off.

I chose to get a new number.

Once I get he phone, I will keep the Google FI SIM in the phone (or sock drawer) and move my US Mobile number to eSIM.

Cheers... happy that the S23 deal failed for me Smilie

Are you on the simply unlimited plan? This deal is only for the flex and ultimate unlimited plans. You can automatically switch to the ultimate unlimited but flex you need to wait until the end of your billing cycle.

important mention for anyone who's rejoining to get the promo.

so it seems a potential issue is that you if return to fi again and see the 650 instant discount promotion, when you activate it you may be perceived as ineligible because your account is too new and your promo will say it got activated by a new user, meaning they'll claw back the rest of the 650. supposedly a guy in a previous thread said your account must be active for 21 days (either in the last month or last 6 months, we are unsure) to get eligibility as an existing user. There was also some talk of needing to join for 21 days before even seeing the offer, but it's a game of telephone at this point.

In short, we need a guinea pig to reactivate an account, get the offer, then try to activate the phone immediately and see if the promotion starts ticking down.
Can you clarify what is reactivate?
How about a Fi account from years ago, always pause the service and resume for 1 minute every 90 days, so the total service time is less than 1 day.
Is that resume considered reactivate?
Is that account qualify?

This S24 deal is for people who currently have active Fi service, or someone who had Fi service within the last 180 days. You'll need to find out the EXACT date when you cancelled your Fi service. If it was near the end of July 2023, then you're still within the 180 days period. If you cancelled in June 2023, then you're outside of the 180 days period.

Use this Date Calculator to find out how many days have elapsed between your cancellation date and today. https://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html
Thanks. I checked my emails and looks like I canceled the Fi service for the S23U back in late June, so I'm outside the 180 day period. Frown

After you activated the phone, there's a countdown showing how many more days you need to stay active on Fi. Once the required number of days has been met, it changed to "STAYED" (past tense) and the promo gets moved to the "Earned" column. At that point, your promo discount has been satisfied and you can cancel Fi service if you wish.

After a few days, I'll add all that info to the Wiki of this deal.

I cancelled on 6/30/2023 but I was able to reactivate my account and ordered a new sim with a new #. I then downloaded Fi onto my phone and activated esim on my old S23 from the last deal. Discount showed up right away. I'll be the guinea pig! I'll let you guys know after I receive the phone, but by then the promo will be over so it won't do much good anyways.

not worth it... there are so many things that could go wrong and you will waste plenty of time dealing with customer service which is useless
thanks! im currently a googlefi customer (prior to this deal) and intend to continue being. does that change anything? my understanding is that from a phone point of view it shouldn't be a problem since it is an unlocked one. i was curious how i can avoid being charged the discount amount while continue using my current phone (and not the S24U I would purchase).

You can't keep using the other phone when you receive the S24U. During the setup process it will ask you to move the number to S24U which you have to do to satisfy the deal. You can't then move the FI SIM to the other phone as it will void the terms and you will be charged in full.

I believe you're not supposed to move the sim to another phone. It has to be either in the S24 or sitting unused in a drawer.

That is for new customers. This deal is for existing customers. However in both cases Fi phones come unlocked so you can use them with other carrier from day 1 using eSIM etc.
