How do you get this to work if you only keep it for 4 months?
Thought it's a 24 Month Bill credit?

"Get reimbursed over 24 months
Receive $27.09 off each bill for 24 months
The credit is tied to the person who activated the device"

Sorry for the ignorance but I'm new to Google Fi deals!

Waiting 24hrs or not, it doesn't matter as well as the phone he wants is still available for purchase and the $650 promotion offer is available for him.
Fi systems and Fi support is a different breed.
There can be issues and support can't resolve it, I had an issue with the S23U from last year on a 2nd line and I had to contact fi subreddit support agents because chat, phone and email weren't helpful for weeks.

Friend has a single Flexible line and has the offer but is planning to leave soon. Can someone check if below is correct to get this deal?

Basing the following list from this post: https://slickdeals.net/f/17148301-samsung-galaxy-s23-128gb-299-for-google-fi-new-and-exisitng-customers-256gb-359-99?p=168295597#post168295597

1. Friend buys phones and links each phone to different Gmail accounts
2. The act of linking the Gmail creates an invite link for me to join friend's Flexible plan group - I differ from the linked instructions though since I want a new phone # for each line and I'm not sure if port-in is required
3. At some point, friend activates/links my current phone to my line (which means I'll probably see my phone's IMEI/model in the Google Fi online portal somewhere)
4. Once I get the new S24s, friend will migrate the existing phone to the S24s somewhere in the Google Fi online portal
5. Finally, I sign into the Google Fi app on each S24 with the invited Gmail accounts and activate the phones with the new phone # I got from step 2 and I keep the lines associated with the S24 active for at least the 4 months
6. Friend can port out his original line after the S24s get activated with the new lines

loss of 10x optical zoom. That's a stupid downgrade
They fitted better sensor and way better, faster lens for 5x shooter. Then 10x zoom is made just by cropping center piece of 5x. Expectation is better quality shots effectively. Need to wait until some real tests pops up. Already saw samples of night zoomed video and it seems promising.

Does FI have any cashback on any sites?
No cb sites that I know of. Some Amex card holders currently have offer for 10% cb on cellphone service up to $30 back. When I had the offer last year, buying the Fi S23 qualified.

Anyone have an idea if this would be worth reselling? I did this last year, so don't really need a new phone. But since it seems like doing it again this year may allow us to repeat it next year, I'm wondering if it would be worth doing it again and selling it so that I can get a decent offer next year.

Selling it right after 4 months and you'll make some money. At least $100, likely more.

I went ahead and signed up for the Flexible plan. Do I need to activate the eSIM on my phone before the S24 Ultra offer shows up in my account? It's been about 5 minutes and the offer hasn't shown up yet.

I did the S23 Ultra fi offer last year. Canceled around June time frame after the 120 days condition was met.
Yes. Once you singed up for flexible plan, activate line using eSIM. In that way you are existing customer and then you will see the offer.

I also did S23U offer last time and canceled in June once 120 days meet.

Probably should wait a couple of days before placing order.
Did you get a new Fi phone # using BYOD or port in a #? eSim or you have to wait for a pSim to be mailed to you?
am using my own pixel 7 BYOD with esim. new number ...

If you see $250 off thats because youre on the simply unlimited plan. You need to swap to either unlimited plus or flexible plan.

The trade in deals are not great. You should be able to get anywhere from $700-800 for a lightly used s23 ultra so basically $250-350 to upgrade to s24 ultra [on sale for $1049

Ordered a few cases from AliExpress last night. I'm particular because I like ones that include Apple's magsafe ring because I have a mount in my car. Its hit or miss on quality but so is Amazon and I am guessing they are cheaper than Amazon and I don't mind the extended shipping time. Usually I get stuff from them in less than 2 weeks.

They have a ton of s24 cases already
