Right, there were no chatter about port-in, and I haven't been following the previous Spectrum trade-in deals so I didn't know the T&C port-in requirement was not enforced. I just wanted to play safe by following the T&C to the letter.
I understand

For an existing Spectrum Mobile customer with a fully owned trade-in, does this $700 promotion apply without adding a new line, or is that the catch?

Exactly what I'm doing with my wife's S23.
Does that phone need to be "unlocked" for trade-in with Spectrum?

It doesn't matter if it is locked. They will take it.

Does anyone know when these phones would be available in spectrum stores? Any chance of them being available before 1/31?

I don't think any retailer is allowed to sell them before the official launch. Sometimes they ship pre orders out a few days days early but I don't remember stores openly selling them before the launch date.

Why don't you just buy the $40 Walmart phone, trade that one in, get a new number on the Spectrum s24, but keep using your S22 on Verizon until the Spectrum line is past 60 days.. then cancel Spectrum and unlock the s24. Then move your Verizon to the S24. Then you are free to sell your S22 if you wish for $$.

You get to keep using your current service with no risk of losing any grandfathered deal.

I'm surprised so many are willing to port their numbers around for this game, I would avoid that at all costs. (unless you truly want to switch to Spectrum)
This makes perfect sense. Found a $40 phone in stock at local Walmart and gonna grab it shortly and use that for trade in. Thanks.

Is this instant discount on trade in or account credit after purchase?
You pay up front. When your phone is received for trade in your account gets the credit. you just chat into support and ask it to go back to your card. very easy.
