I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫔

I'm planning to get Spectrum Internet which comes with a free year of mobile service and a $100 rebate card (after 60 days of service) for $49.99 / month [spectrum.com]. So my plan is to do the trade-in and keep the S24 on the account until the end of the 60-day period when I'll receive the rebate card and will be able to unlock my phone. At that point, I'll cancel my service completely. Does anyone see a problem with that or are trying something similar?

Not recommended. Please trade in with same IMEI
Yeah not really understanding why people would do this...why take unnecessary risk when you can just copy the imei from your phone??

If for any reason, Assurant denies trade in because of different imei, you are pretty much screwed.

EDIT: Oh I understand now...don't want to wait before promotion ends. Still think it's not worth putting fake imei in since it's a risk and you have no way to argue back at that point.

I am not able to checkout 2 phones in a single pre-order. How did people buy 2 phones?
If I order 1 phone with $29/month in 1 pre-order, does it allow to add 2nd line for free in 2nd pre-order?
Looks like it takes about 30 minutes before it'll allow you to pre-order another S24U and add a new line (with trade-in). I called to do it like the other guy suggested but during the call I was placed on hold and decided to try it again and lo and behold it allowed me to get to the "PLACE ORDER" screen.

That being said, the phone rep went ahead and cancelled my first order so he could place them both at the same time... only to find out he was also unable to order them together; however, he assured me that post-sale marketing team will catch these and the free line will apply upon billing activation. He also said he'd open an IT ticket to make sure but hopefully that's unnecessary.

So you can probably save yourself time by doing both online about 30 minutes apart or call in and they basically do the same thing (longer process) but without a "waiting period" between online orders. Can't believe you can't pre-order two devices/lines at a time regardless.

Quick question. What happens if for any reason they reject the traded phone? Is there a way to return the s24 and get a refund? What happens to the phone you sent to trade?
You're on the hook for $800+ and your phone does not get returned to you.

They fulfilled one of my orders (charged my credit card), so I was able to order a 3rd phone for my 3rd line, and that's when I noticed the trade-in value for the S23 Ultra 512 had increased from $1089 to ~$1125. I tried to cancel the original order, but the only way is to "return to sender" after delivery attempt (and free storage upgrade expires). Win some, lose some.

Great deal for S24!

S24 Ultra still seems high because the actual trade in value from Spectrum isn't good. However, if you have some really old phone with at least $1 trade in value, you can consider that you get a S24 for only about $100. Note that Spectrum also accepts phone with crack screen or even worse damages.
Exactly. I trade in my Pixel 2XL for $5, and got the additional $700, pretty sweet.

I paid 1300+107$ as tax. After trade in do they give 711$ (trade in) + tax or just 711$ to my CC
You get taxed on the full purchase price. Then, once your trade in is processed, you get the trade in value back. Nothing more.

I'm on the fence as I have Tmobile simple choice and don't need extra lines. However I'm paying $80/month for cable internet so adding 2 lines ($30 + bogo) qualifies for $50/month so it's a wash for 12 months. Doing this lets me me trade in 2 ancient iphone se for $750 each...not sure.

This really depends on state laws. Some states will refund the tax on the trade-in values, but many don't.

Yeah I've heard that.
There's a price to pay for the nice weather and everything else in Cali.

I'm waffling between this and the samsung.com deal for S24U with S22U trade in. That one works out to $553 ($660 after Cali tax) and I get $150 credit to spend on 2 buds FE, an S view case and a screen protector.

A bit of a tough pill to swallow when I got a crazy mid-cycle deal on S23U upgrade last September.

For comparison's sake, that deal was:
S23 Ultra 512GB with S22U trade-in $261.24
Tab S9 Ultra 512GB with Tab S8U trade-in +$4
2x Galaxy Buds 2 pro (~$50 each) +$100
Galaxy watch 6 44mm with free hybrid D band (MSRP $80) +$110
Total $475 + tax

Can't turn back time, but part of me is hoping they do a deal like this in September 2024. 😁

they unlock after 60 days but you can cancel line earlier if you have already asked them to credit 700+ trade in to your account and paid upfront for mobile
What do you mean by that? Like you can cancel after the first month of service wait the remaining days and then request unlock?

has anyone used a completely made up IMEI in previous deal and sent in the phone and got credit?

for example, let's say i say i'm going to trade in iphone 6 with made up IMEI, the page shows the $700+ value for the iphone 6

what i'm getting at is if i buy a phone on ebay right now that won't get here before 1/30 that I can still go thru with this without worrying about actual IMEI # (the phone will obviously match whatever i select). thanks!

As others have mentioned, don't risk losing your $700 back because the IMEI didn't match.

Last year, with the S23 trade in process, Assurant sent me a free shipping label. There was also a print out that I'm supposed to send in with my old phone. It has all of my trade-in information (name, phone model and the phone IMEI). So, I would not risk losing the $700 because the IMEI on the print out didn't match the phone IMEI.

I ordered the S24 this morning and screwed up. I wanted to Pay In Full and accidently did the payment plan. I know I can pay it off at anytime. If I let the trade-in refund hit my account, can I use the credit on the account to pay for th enew phone in full, or should I just pay it off and wait for the refund to come later on, and then have them send the credit to my credit card. Thanks...
