I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

So update, the returned Moto G Play that was denied from Assurant and had a locked screen. I inserted the $1 sim from the Tracphone sim kit that I bought from Target. It unlocked the screen again and let me skip through the set up. Walked into the Spectrum store, and was able to trade it in no problem and walked out with the S24. So for now I am just out of the activation fee, restocking fee, I think the first month of phone line, hopefully. I am still waiting on the return refund to appear. So definitely learned my lesson but mitigated my losses the best I could.
So you mailed the Moto phone in, it got rejected, you got it back, and then you succeeded trading in-person at the store??

I sent two Moto G play phones in almost a month ago. THEY STILL have them as I've been trying to get them to re-examine the phones. Its been a week and I keep getting the run-around.

I'm not sure about this SIM or no SIM. My cousin bought the Moto G play from Walmart (in-person) and it was traded and credited normally. He didn't activate, turn it on, put in a SIM or do anything. Just sent it in to Assurant. I think mine were rejected because Walmart didn't scan them out properly since I bought them online.

My phones seem to be fixed now since Tracfone did something on their end, but Assurant still hasn't re-checked. So I'm in limbo and time is running out! I assume there isn't a phone number we can call?

For those who had issues with the Note 4 trade-in:

I just received a positive response from Assurant. See below. I asked them to verify again as I've received numerous e-mails regarding $0 and they said to disregard those $0 e-mails. I'll wait for the credit (not sure how long that typically takes) before closing out my complaints with BBB, FTC, FCC and AG.

"Thank you for reaching out to us. I was able to confirm this trade was Auto-Accepted. The confirmed value of your trade-in for $701, including any applicable promotional value, will be refunded to the credit card you have on file within two billing cycles from the date processed. If the customer is financing a new device, the trade-in credit will be applied within two billing cycles, through the term of the payment plan."
I trade in Note 3, the battery is only hold the charge about 7 days. I worried the battery will drain out (even when power off) in the time inspection. I called Spectrum to return the S24U because Assurance will not accept the Note 3 trade in because it cannot turn on. Spectrum CS told me not worry, Assurance will charge the phone when they inspect. I sent the Note 3 on 2/14, Assurance inspected on 2/24 and accepted. I got refund to my CC $705 today.
So the trade in value of my Note 3 is $5 but your Note 4 is only $1.
Last year, I had trade in when bought Fold 5. So far all the trade in transaction and credit are smooth.

Good news! So you got a credit in 2 days. I'll look for that. My Note 4 was $5 but the screen was cracked so they only offered $1. Obviously I just wanted the $700.

Thank you and repped.
So that means those phones you unlocked are not even used under your account at all. Just bought it paid in full that's all.
Did you provide them just imei# to unlock?
With Spectrum, when you acivate the phone, your account will show it as "device" in that line. You use it or not does not matter as long as the line is still active. After 60 days, you can request to unlock it so you don't need to provide IMEI because this information is in the device of the line. If you cancelled the line, Spectrum cannot unlock it because they don't know what the phone is, when was it activated.

On 24/2 they credit to my phone account. When I saw it, I call Spectrum right away to credit to my Credit card. So check your Spectrum mobile account or call Spectrum tell them to credit $701 to your CC.

I'm talking about some trade in and get a few phones under the same line, what happens to those phones are not showing active then?

When you are/were requesting to unlock those phones, are/were you with spectrum internet and with mobile service at all?

Just my guessing, as long as we are still with spectrum mobile for 60 days, and since all the phoned were all bought from them and all paid in full. As long as the lines remain under the service, they should be able to unlock them all under the same account.
Because we can always claim we switch sim around the phones
According to Spectrum, either you activate the phone by yourself or Spectrum will activate the phone a few days after delivery if the phone is activated by you.

I will open device as soon as I receive it and activate right away, with S24 you have to I think as you have to activate with eSIM and unless you scan it, it is not going to activate it (I assume).
Spectrum will auto activate the device on your account after 7 days post delivery or store purchase, whether you turned on and activated the device or not. So that's why I wonder whether they can still unlock it even if you don't open the box.

Can you activate the moto g play 2023 without the sim card inserted? Using esim remotely? I asked the straight talk CS, they told me the moto phones can't be activated with esim.

Ok, I never tried not activating manually and getting unlocked, but if that works, really good for lot of folks want to sell or gift to someone.

You are talking about a phone under a line.. that makes sense, just like metro by tmobile but what happens when you trade in and get many phones under a same line.....you missed that part.

That's what I thought too.
But someone upgraded a line and the same line again and again like 3 or 4 phones, how can those phones got unlocked after 60 days? They claimed that they all got unlocked...
I can confirm that I have gotten phones unlocked that were not active on my lines for 60 days.
