I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

My device reached yesterday morning but assurant tracker is not yet updated and it still shows 'Awaiting Shipment'. Usually how long do they take to acknowledge and update tracker. Once the confirm they received device, in how many days they will inspect device? Any data point will be helpful here

Usually 2 days after Assurant receives your trade-in.

I can confirm that I have gotten phones unlocked that were not active on my lines for 60 days.
thank you and repped, that's what I was assuming.
how did you unlock those non-activated phones?
just call/chat them and provide them the phones' IMEI#?

Just to clarify, all phones have to be activated in order to be recognized by Spectrum's system, but they do not need to remain the active phone on a given line, in order to be unlocked. You just contact Customer Service via phone or Chat and explain that you did an upgrade on the line, so you need the previous phone unlocked (assuming it's been 60 - or perhaps 67 - days).

Hope this helps.

yes, this is extremely helpful, thank you so much.
when doing the upgrade in stores, they do activate the phones right there, and made some test calls, so those phones would be activated for a day or two at least.
thanks again. I am thinking to do a final trade in for my 2 lines but just trading in 2 cheap phones for 2xs24 or S24+

So you mailed the Moto phone in, it got rejected, you got it back, and then you succeeded trading in-person at the store??

I sent two Moto G play phones in almost a month ago. THEY STILL have them as I've been trying to get them to re-examine the phones. Its been a week and I keep getting the run-around.

I'm not sure about this SIM or no SIM. My cousin bought the Moto G play from Walmart (in-person) and it was traded and credited normally. He didn't activate, turn it on, put in a SIM or do anything. Just sent it in to Assurant. I think mine were rejected because Walmart didn't scan them out properly since I bought them online.

My phones seem to be fixed now since Tracfone did something on their end, but Assurant still hasn't re-checked. So I'm in limbo and time is running out! I assume there isn't a phone number we can call?
I purchased the Moto G Play from Walmart but I turned it on and skipped through initial set up and then factory reset the phone. What I didn't know was that when you factory reset a Straight Talk phone, when you try to start it again you will get a screen saying the phone is locked by the carrier please insert a compatible sim to open. This is what assurant was declaring as Anti-Theft. I bought two phone and did the exact same process with both and one was denied for Anti-Theft and the other wasn't. So I highly think it is dependant on who you get that inspects the phone from assurant, some don't care that it's locked, other will say it's locked becuase of Anti-theft.

I was within my return window for Spectrum when I got the first denial. So I went ahead an requested a return for both S24 to be safe since I thought both would be denied. I reached out to assurant and only got a generic response. I request the denied Moto G Play to be return, took about a little over a week for it arrive. I held off on returning the S24 until the assement for the second phone came through which was accepted. The trade in credit appeared about 3 days later and I called the spectrum to cancel the return for phone that had the trade in accepted, no issue.

I returned the denied one and already got my refund minus the restocking fee, and they ended up not refunding the activation fee or the plan line fee so about a $100 loss their.

I got back the denied straight talk Moto g play and purchased a $1 Tracphone sim kit from Target online for instore pickup, its cheaper than paying it instore. Was able to due the initial setup again, except this time did not factory reset the phone. Went to spectrum and traded in with no problem.

What's your timeline for the returned phone to receiving refund? I returned a S24 that was delivered to their warehouse on 2/14 and I'm still waiting for any acknowledgement or refund on my account. Called twice and they just keep telling me to wait without any deadlines. I'm about to file a chargeback with my CC if it doesn't come through soon.

Somehow you navigated pitfalls as best as possible. worship

I've not been lucky at all, and despite Straightalk/tracfone fixing the anti-theft, Assurant hasn't rechecked and I don't think they will at this point. Already way past my 15 days. I reach out to Spectrum and they say "the terms were clearly laid out and you agreed."

I know that after Assurant approves a trade in it shows up on Spectrum account after about 1 day but has anybody accepted a revised trade in offer? After you accept is timeframe similar? Trying to decide if I should accept or reject their revised off.

I don't believe the StraightTalk fix will help. I received the Moto G Plays back from Assurant, and StraightTalk has already released the IMEIs. However, these phones still won't go through the setup screen without a SIM card inside. The only solution seems to be an in-store trade-in.

I requested to return the S24 from Spectrum on 2/15, I physically returned the S24 with the label they provided to FedEx on 2/19, and 2/22 got an email that my return was received and they would assess the condition and update me on refund eligibility, and on 2/26 got an email that I would be refunded $835.98 and a $50.00 restocking charge would be applied to my refund.

Did you keep the fedex receipt for the return or see if you can find the tracking # of the return label to see if it had arrived at assurant. I would email assurant asking for status and provide the tracking and info.

Yes the return tracking says deliver on 2/14 and they can see the same info on their end, but no updates after that.

Yeah Spectrum really is no help, I got that from everyone previous posts when the issues started happening, if I was in your position where I lost the trade in credit and I was to late to return. I would just do a instore trade in still because you can't beat getting this phone for less than $200 all in. Then with the phone that I was not able to return try to sell it on Ebay or Swappa after I was able to unlock the phone, I may have to sell it for a little less but at least I would mitigate the loss. Or if you don't want to deal with that hassel, see if you can trade in the S24 that you didn't get the credit for at the spectrum store for another S24, there is another thread here all about that, I think people are profiting $400 from that and that will also help lower your losses.

Assurant or Spectrum?, the email stating they received the phone came from assurant and refund notice. If spectrum, they are not helpful, I would next try emailing that email address posted eariler for assurant, asking for an update. And if nothing, then file a complaint with the attorney general ect. Filing a chargeback would be last resort but if the above fails thats a good route.

It depends on what their revised offer is. If the offer is $0 then reject it and request the phone back. But if they are still giving you the $700 but instead of you getting the additional $30 for the phone so say $730 total they are instead only providing $15 so $715, I would accept. It is not worth the hassle and based on previous posts assurant will do nothing to change there assessment position nor spectrum. Plus you would lose out on alot more than that $15 difference if you return ect.
