It doesn't "gum up" The ethanol arnd gasoline seperate from sitting and a layer of water forms between them, the water and Ethanol feed a specific bacteria that forms very corrosive acid and such which eats through rubber hoses, melts fiberglass, and with aluminum carbs, heads, etc it eats the coating off and corrodes the metal. The oxidation is so puffy (it is nasty puffed up crust) that nothing flows. It is "rust" but from aluminum. Trust if it were "gummed up" you could simply run fresh gas and carb cleaner through it and restore it to health. The acid literally destroys the parts requiring replacement. This begins about 2-3 weeks after you purchase the fuel. Stabilizer does not inhibit this, it slows it but it doesn't neutralize the effect.

Comes up as $899 with veteran account. Damn good deal, but I have one of the older models without bluetooth already.

Worked great during a few blackouts here in metro Detroit so far. Runs my lights, internet, TV, electronics etc., and probably the microwave if I'm careful enough. I've idled it through the night without issue.

Manual says E10 is okay so that's what I run, just need to keep up on maintenance. make sure to follow the oil change guidance, and set the fuel switch to off and run it until the carb is empty before you put it away.

I have this model with the Companion with 30a for my 5th wheel, but end up only using this one as it is sufficient for one 15,000BTU AC unit with a soft start.
Not too surprising with a soft start - even somewhat bigger AC units will not usually use >=1500W.

I've wanted to get myself one of these Honda's for a while, or spend less and get a larger Harbor Freight Predator with the warranty. The main purpose is for hurricanes (I live in South Florida). I see mention here if you leave fuel inside, it'll gunk up, etc. If you plan to store it, can't you just let the generator run till it dies so all the fuel is burned up before storage?
I've done it with a cheaper/smaller gen I've had for years in the past and it has kept some critical things going through several extended outages. I now have a bigger 3200/4000W dual fuel using propane, which would be my first resort during an outage over 8h or so - once the battery/inverter needs topping off. Portable generator + battery/inverter is a good setup for locations with recurring power outages, especially when paired with solar panels which can help you do some 'peak trimming' to reduce your power bill in the summer.

15 left! Looks like HD will sell out tonight.
I've been watching this deal, don't really need it because I have two other generators - but there's definitely an urge to get one of these which will likely last decades with low use / regular maintenance. Kind of a bummer it doesn't have a NEMA L5-30 outlet, same for the .omission of 12V DC output on this model.

I'm in the same shoes. My house is near a fire station so we really loose power, but would be nice to have a generator just in case. Also might come in handy durning camping trips.
Do you think the price would ever go lower than this?

Seems unlikely. These don't go on discount often at all. My store's got a couple in stock still even if it goes out of stock for shipping.

wish they would take out the stupid shit like the bluetooth and the CO sensor, and just let the tried and true design be that's been the same for almost 20 yrs
just more things to break

for those on the fence. these are the real deal and actually fully serviceable and repairable unlike a lot of the other brands and yamaha EF2000is-clones
our utility company and cable company have fleets of these that are deployed during major storm repairs that power equipment, lighting, etc

during hurricane sandy where it was expected in our area to be without power in upwards of almost 2 weeks, Comcast went around to the power supply points in the neighborhood and ran EU2000's to power the hubs so households would have cable services (TV, Phone, Internet). they triple chained them to the poles

I think the days of this Honda Generator being good value are gone. There are comparable generators for $350, albeit they don't last as long and are slightly louder, I just don't see the Honda being worth 3x the price.

If you are running a business at the farmer's market or another place where noise reduction and quality is imperative, then I can see this being you jam, but keep in mind this machine is only about 5 db quieter than some of the knock offs on the market.
Quiet, reliable, smooth sine wave, and efficient on gas. Can the others beat that?

I have a job where I would bring my Honda EU2000i with me and run for a number of hours a day, when I needed. I still bring my Honda with me from time to time but now I use it to charge my larger battery packs which I use throughout the day instead of letting the generator run endlessly.

There are a number of 3rd party accessories available for these and the EU2200s have a fuel pump so can also run off of an external tank ie a boat tank and add 3, 5 or however many gallons of fuel you'd like. Also much safe to fill an external tank than to put gas in a running generator. If you need spare parts like a replacement carb I suspect a Honda will be much easier to source parts.

Someone demonstrated that simply unplugging the CO sensor effectively 'deletes' it and the unit runs like normal. I imagine the same may be true for the bluetooth module. IMO, having bluetooth would nice for topping off a battery/inverter setup since you can shut off the generator without having to go outside in inclement weather (again).

I still see 2 units available for shipping, but it should still also be available @ local stores if they have stock.

Call or go in person. Limited stock can often mean they're out or only have 1.

Thanks! Called one and was told OOS.
Funny thing is I've been contemplating on whether to get this or not since 3 days ago and it has been sitting in my cart since. lol

Well... ended up buying one. Picked up locally. Figured less chance of damage in transit that way. Haven't opened it yet. Already have an EB2800i that I bought from HD for ~$500 (epic clearance find!) several years ago. Don't really need this EU2200i, but I've wanted one for years. Every time I walk past a food truck, or farmers market stall, or some other place that has one running --> 😍. And hearing stories of them still going after 10, 15+ years and thousands of hours only made it an easier decision.

Came across some interesting advice for breaking it in as well.

This must be why my snowblower would not run. Thanks for the info
definitely why it won't run. You could be lucky if you remove the bowl and spray some carb cleaner up the jet. Most likely, removing the carb and manual cleaning will get it done. If you can find it near you, get ethanol free gas.
