Pretty good price - looks like it dropped this low a couple of times in December, according to Keepa.

Just googling around, it looks like it can found @ $118 on Ebay. right now.

This is a really handy tool and a decent price for it. I use it all the time in renovation work. Personally I'd go with Milwaukee's very similar version today just due to battery platform, but it wasn't available when I got mine two years ago.

What do you use it for? I have a similar tool that I got years ago and I never think to use it. Hoping to spark my imagination on it Smilie

Flushing up framing in prep for flat drywall or tile substrate is a common use for me, especially in older homes where the framing/blocking has gotten out of plane. The tool is maneuverable enough to be used in those situations compared to the larger 18v or corded planers.

I skim and scribe trim with it all the time, flush up built-up headers, trim doors, etc. It's small and weak enough where you can finesse with it without fear of destroying the workpiece, kind of like a motorized block plane, but also strong enough that you can work on 2x material if needed.

It's definitely NOT a substitute for the larger handheld planers or shop equipment for jointing and planing lumber.

Recently? My Lowe's was clearancing all of the Bosch 12 volt tools this summer. None of them ever got cheap enough for me to snap up though. I think this one hit 50 bucks and I passed on it.

One week ago they slashed clearance prices but every market is different.

I've had luck in the past by talking to a manager and offering to buy multiple clearance items with a discount on each one - they want to get the merchandise out of the store and more often than not unsold new in box merchandise will literally be thrown out, only returns and abandoned special order items go to auction from what I'm told.

Good point. My Lowes stopped carrying the Bosch 12v stuff after that clearance. I wasn't sure if or where they were still carrying it.

I paid $169 with a battery two years ago and love it. I use it in my contracting business a few times a month, mostly for trim but also leveling joists
