The truth is, no one knows what will happen at the end of November 2024 when the Verizon acquisition is official. Verizon has said "Your current Tracfone Service Plan will remain available for use on VoLTE-ready phones at least until Nov. 23, 2024." It has not announced what will happen to legacy Tracfone plans after that date. My guess is Verizon will consolidate Tracfone users into one of its already existing pre-paid phone plans like Total. But again, this is speculation. The Tracfone brand is relatively well known so the company may choose to keep it.

Yet I bought anyway for $30 bucks it is a good price if the Stylus breaks due to a dropped phone or something… a backup and for that price might as well use it for other tasks like a game boy emulator or something.
I have the Moto 5G Stylus 2021, Moto Stylus 2021 and the Moto 5G Stylus 2022. The 2022 model is a big jump in performance over the 2021 models. It has 6GB of vram and more advanced 5G modems for faster UC 5G speeds. Add to that the Moto 5G Stylus 2023 is already out as well.
THIS retired adult (me) is doing well financially, and has had nothing but good service this past year with the same plan/offer...

CDMA = Verizon.
T-mobile is GSM only (TDMA waaaaaaaay back in the day for some of the carriers it bought up)
Note some Verizon/TF used to come partially unlocked because of an agreement with the FCC. So on inserting a SIM card that is not Verizon/TF it could make calls and get data, but you wouldn't have as good service because it wasn't fully unlocked (ie only certain bands), so still worth to go through process after 60 days and then never worry about it again.
Another data point is: I bought a Samsung S20FE 5G UW (Verizon version). About two years later, when I left a Friend's Verizon family plan and joined a T-Mobile one, I researched and realized that the UW phone has fundamentally different baseband hardware than the S20 FE 5G non-UW version. While the UW(Verizon) version gains UW-mmWave bands, its hardware does not include crucial bands that T-Mobile most commonly used. This resulted in poor reception in a lot of places for me. And a new round of phones hadn't come out yet. So the upgrade path is tricky.
It's all case by case.
