Honestly, BB is making it hard to buy with their crappy return policies.... much rather go to Sam's, Costco etc...

I purchased the 75" Samsung Class TU690T for parents last month. After 13 days, the TV would reset/reboot every 30 seconds. Best Buy Support transferred me to Samsung Support. After a few troubleshooting techniques, the Samsung Support said that he would need to send out a tech to fix. However, he recommended returning since it was a 2022 model and swapping with a CU7000 2023 model for $50 more. I could still return within 15 days of purchase. It did suck returning this big of a TV, but ended up doing it.

This is NOT the same price difference as the CU7000 75" vs the 85", but I am posting my experience since the Samsung tech hinted that their TU690T had issues.

I wouldn't say their return policy is crappy...you can't compare to places like Sam's and Costco because they have much higher volume of sales, charge a membership fee (more income) and can absorb returns easier than places like Best Buy. Amazon has the best return polices because why? VOLUME.

Today's attitude towards purchases is to buy now, and think later. If I don't like it or have buyers remorse, I'll just return it (after I've opened and lost the remote and scratched it up and disposed of the box). Well, MILLIONS of people think that way and businesses have to do something with all these returns. It becomes a loss of income at that point.

In any case, if you just realistically think about it, you'd understand. I think what's crappy is how people buy things just to try out with the expectation (entitlement) of returning it cost-free with no restocking fee.

FWIW, I have BB Total membership and have 60 days to return a product. Normal shoppers have 15 days.

As someone with vision issues myself- i don't think Oled vs led is an issue -I think you want to get the largest size possible.

They all look pretty good these days to me so size is a bigger factor. ( as well as ease of use. )

The LG deal (from yesterday @$799?) is now $899. Just FYI if that is what you were thinking of.

Already grabbed it at $799 but hasn't even shipped yet so was curious.

Would probably bite on this one, but unfortunately it only has 2 HDMI ports. Need at least 3. Great price though!

Didn't notice that! But it's basically at the bottom of the line of Samsung TV's, too, so that is sort of scary.

Best Buy offers excellent info service pre sale -you can see the tvs ask questions and get real answers -sometimes it's worth it to pay a little more. I went with open box and don't regret it.

OLED is in an entirely different league than this. OLEDs have picture quality that absolutely blows this out of the water. This is bottom of the barrel. It's extremely dim. It registers at less than 300 nits (nits are the brightness unit), whereas even entry level LG OLEDs are over 700 nits, and a lot of people consider that low. So, if you have vision issues, this is not the TV for you. Here's a review from the #1 review site. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/tu690t

Need a screen to serve as digital signage - menu board at my movie theater. Rather buy one large tv than string together several smaller ones like you see elsewhere. Menu board design will be all black, with white text (basically "dark mode"), so don't think I need super bright tv, but also want to make sure the contrast of the white text on the black background will read well. Will always have the menu image on screen, nothing else.

Good buy for my use case?

Keep in mind this is like a model thats lower than even their entry tier models. This is like the lowest tier TV they sell essentially. The technology on this TV is pre-local dimming and pre-quantum dot era which is basically TVs from 6-8 years ago. You're buying this TV for sheer size only.

I dont think this is a very good deal. If you don't care about anything else other than size there are absolutely cheaper TV's out there at the same size, and significantly better in many regards. In accordance to RTINGs expect Washed out, colors, fairly dim, but alright in contrast. In the same price category theres significantly better performing TVs that are the same price or only a few bucks more for significantly more feature and picture quality.

The LG is better, but at the same time if you're at that level where its all about size then go for Hisense & TCL instead. They're better features and performance per dollar if you're all about the size.
