I wish I could use something like this. I just don't find it practical.
I don't want my movie scene to trigger every time I sit in the couch.
Sometimes I won't want lights to turn on when I walk into a room (kids sleeping)
The biggest concern, from my understanding you have to put them up high on the wall and I don't want a wire running up my wall. If this was similar to a hue sensor (which doesn't offer presence) and had a battery that lasted over a year, I'd be all about it. I get it this is different tech but the required power source is a deal breaker for me.

Love it on my open floor plan using Home Assistant. Thinking of getting another one even for smaller rooms as it responds fast enough (not as instant as a pir sensor). It takes a bit of time to setup and figure out interference to eliminate ghosting but just be patient and keep working on it. Also it gets lots of update and they recently added sleeping sensor.

An interesting application could be moving lighting around you while walking in the house, but it does need careful settings to avoid false triggers or misses
This is regular price, I've tracked it for months. If not -25% off, it'll show a coupon on the page always getting you back to $62.24.
I have been tracking this for several months as well and it's usually around the $60-70 price point. It did dip below $60 during the Black Friday sales.

Continuing this thought .. my advice is figure out where you can mount it before you buy. If you mount it on the ceiling, you reduce the area covered significantly, and you also lose all the functionality except for fall detection.
If you place it in a corner of a room, you get ghost reflections and it becomes difficult to draw out the room layout, because the app assumes that if it isn't mounted on the ceiling, it is mounted in the center of one of the walls of the room. And that's weird because the app suggests putting it in the corner, but you can't move it to a corner on the grid.
If you are willing to have it at eye level in the middle of one wall of the room with a cord attached, then it will probably work well for you.
The fall detection wasn't very good either. I placed it overhead at the bottom of a staircase where one is likely to, you know, fall and it triggered every time I stepped off the bottom step.

I'll get one to play around with sometime. But my ideal space would be the great room and with the open kitchen and stone countertops and stainless appliances, I hear ghosts are nonstop.
Nope. Just using plan old motion sensors for now which work fine enough
That's what I'm using now, but I'd like to set up zones without having to buy multiple sensors. These new ones seem to be my only options. Just gotta find a decently reliable one that isn't Apple only for the automation side of things.

(Or save just a bit of money and get one that also has a CO2 sensor.)
Can't speak to the differences in capability for person detection though, I picked up a couple, but I'm only using them for CO2 at the moment.
