This is one of the few Fiskars items that I was disappointed in. The handles extend at all the wrong times and I'm constantly fighting them to stay closed. They are nice fully extended to reach, but I think I would be better with 2 pairs. 1 the normal size that are fixed at that length and 1 at the extended reach.

Have seen the arms on this thing collapse. Wouldn't recommend.

Currently using an older cutter with solid wooden arms and I abuse that to no tomorrow without issue.

These things are great! I bought a pair about 12 years ago from Home Depot and they carry a lifetime warranty. I'm on my third replacement now. Walk in to Home Depot and no receipt and they replace them, no issues.

I bought these a few years ago for similar price on here. They suck! The rotating handle locking mechanism design on mine is terrible. It wont stay locked long or short. I much prefer the other slightly more expensive model with the lock down clamps that keep the arms a fixed length while you work. Maybe they revised the design and fixed it, but it looks the same. Be warned, they are squirrely to work with and if you try to put any real force into it the handles will unscrew
and go loose/lengthening.

edit: grand total $12.73 in 2018

I don't think they are worth any more than that. They are still a quality fiskar product though. i have considered just removing the extend handles completely.

Anyone who does any real work knows these are horrible: Go with fixed. The retractable option is a gimmick and it makes them unusable for real work. There is a reason these are priced well. All the other reviewers above stating the same thing are correct. Stay far away from these. I wouldn't give these to my worst enemy.

Where'd you contact them?
You can usually swap at B&M stores that carry them

Same here, mine broke and I've submitted multiple times for a warranty claim. Have never heard anything.

I have a different Fiskars model lopper and the blade snapped in half. If you go to their website, there is a form you fill out and you need to attach a picture of the entire tool showing that it's broken. I've received what appears to be an automated reply that my replacement has been shipped and received a tracking number. I don't know if they're sending just a replacement blade or a whole new tool. There is no detail in the email and no way to look anything up.

Pretty darn slow though. I made the warranty claim on 1-9-24 and received the reply on 1-12-24 with the tracking. The tracking didn't become active until 1-22-24 and still no idea when it will arrive and what I am receiving. At least it's winter and I don't really need them right now, but still kind of frustrating.

Good luck!

Prepare for them to rust over in 6 months with any light usage and garage storage.
