This UB150 player, along with the UB420, UB820, and UB9000, are the only 4K Blu-ray disc players worth buying these days.

I might as well pick one up. Cant seem to find a cheap player that plays 3d movies to use with our projector. Thift stores have them occasionally but never with remote.

Or you can just leave DV on and it's fine...

I've never had an issue playing a 4K HDR non-DV disc with DV enabled on my X700M.
If you want the color to be accurate its not fine to leave DV on all the time on the Sonys, because it will apply artificial dolby vision to everything.

So for accuracy, you need to go into settings and manually turn DV on and off for every DV movie on the Sony players, which is well beyond annoying, and why the X700/X800 are not a good 4K player choice.

If you want Dolby Vision the only players worth buying are the Panasonic UB820 and UB9000.

What about a PS5? That plays them in HDR, right?
Yes, but it doesn't support Dolby Vision.

You think 4K Blu-Ray has been around for 20 years?

Sony and Panasonic are the only manufacturers left in this space. Pick one.
Not the ONLY manufacturers (or at least brands).

Even regular Blu-ray isn't quite 20 years old yet, never mind 4K UHD.

You don't have a problem because you like looking at artificially processed video. It's still a free country.

Auto switching between hdr formats is a trivial feature - back over 10 years.

You would be much better off leaving Dolby Vision off on this sony player.

I am a big fan of Sony tvs. Owned many.

Terrible Blu-ray player. Skips most discs and shutters/freezes. Feels like a $20 toy Blu-ray build quality. Typically a huge fan of Panasonic/Matsushita products but this is a total loser product. Please don't buy no matter how cheap the price. It's like the disc decompression algorithm locks up and freezes. I suspect that even at the $99 price a lot of it is paying for all the very expensive licenses. Look for an alternate Blu-ray player brand. Again I am a huge fan of Matsushita products but this model is a big failure

not my post,,post is from the thread you reference - like I earlier said these budget players can have issues.

Best Buy is one of the worst places to buy physical media. Before they threw in the towel they had a lower market share of movie sales than even target lol
