Pulled the trigger based on your evaluation of them. Will give them to my son, so when he breaks/loses them it doesn't matter that much.

i have the adorrgon brand version which im sure have the exact same guts. probably from the same factory in china. Think I got them on a slickdeal for $8.

They're great for the price. Only problem is, unlike other brand name more expensive binocs is that if you drop them and the collimation gets out of whack theres no way to adjust it, so then they're trash unless you just want to look out one eye hole. They actually sent me a free pair when i complained about the collimation issue on my first pair too.

For $15 theyre a good deal.

12x42 is difficult config for many folks to hold a still image. You need a very firm stance or very still (heavy) mount (ex: tripod).
